Camping is seriously one of the best therapies out there, especially if it involves a Jeep. I can't wait for my trip next month.

Default just my luck

So about an 2 hours or less into our drive my rpms and oil pressure gauge drop to zero. Fortunately I was able to make get it startd again and make it to the next town. Well mechanic said fuel pump is going out. Good thing is they'll be able to fix it today bad thing is its costly. I would do it myself if I wasn't short on time. But i guess that's what happens when you have an old vehicle. Wifeys kinda in a bad mood now lol I won't let it ruin the trip though just hopefully that's the only problem.

Where is the mechanic getting a replacement fuel pump for a '96?

Probably from a Napa or auto zone. Repalced the pump and the filter. But I needed it done and they got it in and out.

Glad it worked out. Also glad it wasn't the fuel pressure regulator. Have a good camp out.

I love camping stories. Bummer about the fuel pump but look at it this way, you've got a new fuel pump and filter and you're camping. Plus, you won't smell like gas for the whole trip.

Family owns 60 acres about 1.5 hours south of Buffalo NY. Have a blast, nothin' beats being out in nature.

That is a trick question. lol I understand the 1996 fuel pump can be hard to find. Was only used in the '96 (the bastard year), is that what it is?

I built my jeep with camping and day-tripping in mind. We have beaches to drive on but overnight camping is not allowed on the beach.
I hope to hit the mountains for camping on the trail.

^ I don't think it's the fuel pump that's so hard to find. It's finding a replacement for the fuel regulator that's in the tank that's the problem. Late dom '96s like mine have them.

That's some BEAUTIFUL country btw! LUV the mountains but do miss the ocean.

I camped overnight at Freeman Park in Carolina Beach on my way down to Florida. Saved me having to pay for a hotel for the night. Not sure how far that is from you but it's there. I thought it was a really nice beach. My gf and I were there in late December so there were only 1 or 2 other campers. We slept in the Jeep of course since it was about 40 deg outside.
