I'd really like some treadwright guard dogs and the smallest size is 31's. I've sat mine next to a reg. xj and it looks to be about 2 inches taller(to me anyways). On stock wheels, can I run 31s? I do go wheeling from time to time, nothing major. I know I can run 30's. Sooooo, can someone with more experience than I let me know before I go buy them????

forget what these guys are trying to talk you into. buy the 31's, cut and fold fenders if you have to, and swap in WJ control arms if you rub. you can buy lift parts later just get those tires on there

I still recommend shackles over AAL, but both inexpensive ways.

most of the lift companies make a good shackle lift kit with all you need for 200 to 300 bucks, sometimes cheaper. pending on your current wheel back spacing you could get a set of quarter or 5/16 spacers from the parts store, that would get a little room ( you may even be able to go 1/2 inch with the factory lugs.

Grab a cutoff wheel or preferred sheet metal cutting tool and trim. Cut and fold the rears. If your leafs are as far gone as mine, bumpstop the rear to prevent rubbing (my tires are old and I got them cheap so I don't care about the rubbing).
Most 31s like ATs or radial MTs aren't as aggressive as my swampers and I have extremely wide offset for 10.50s, so you may not even rub trimmed less than mine. Even with a lift, if you want to wheel on oversized tires you will need to trim anyways so get over it

Right after installing the 31s on stock (read: "saggy") suspension!
It works, you just have to put a couple washers to limit your steering radius to avoid rubbing ton the LCAs. In the rear avoid the harder zones to avoid making your tires rub too much...
Save up for a lift kit. I did. I installed it this week. 4.5" for me and man it's awesome, I'm getting every bit of grip from my tires now and it rocks!!!
I'd always recommend buying tires first then the lift. Unless you plan on mounting 33s or higher...
