stock rigs are quite capable. best thing to do is, go out and do things. Its hard to describe capabilities because so much of it deals with the driver. I can go places in my 2wd and others need 4x4 to get through it.
So my advice, find a local offroad club and go out with them! They'll have some experienced guys that would be more then willing to go out and help you out. And if you come to an obstical, get out and look at it. If your unsure about something dont do it. Other then that go out and have FUN!

i looked at your pics, good lookin xj. speaking from experience, the only down fall i have run into is MUD. unless you have some super aggresive tires and lots of ground clearence you will sink. the only thing done to mine is three inches of lift and a decent set of tires. they will go over nearly anything they can get a hold of. maybe its just me but they sink like a brick in mud.
