Default Champion Power equipment winches?

advance auto has a 4500 lb winch kit for $170.
It is called champion power equipment.

just wondering if anyone has any experience with these.
I think I might give it a try for that price. I don't get too extreme
with my offroading, and rarely get stuck so it won't be used much
so I am gonna pick one up unless someone has first hand bad experience with them.

You want atleast 8000 lbs the 4500 is a trailer winch meant for dead ROLLING weight not for recovery either

Actually, 1.5 times the vehicle weight is except-able, but twice the vehicle weight is preferred. I always check the specs and make sure that the winch I buy will handle the weight of my rig on the bottom layer on the winch.

If you are trying to go cheap, Sam's club sells an 8K winch (Might be Champion) that is supposed to work well for about $300.00

I got a "Smittybuilt" (XRC8) 8000 pound winch for about the same price, & it has worked well several times for me.

thanks for the reply everyone.
I found a new 9500 lb atlas winch on craigslist he is asking $295, but he doesn't have the remote, but I found one on ebay for 30 bucks so I may try and haggle him down and get it.

I don't know atlas winches, but I do know you can buy an 8000 lb Smitty Built for 300 and they are really good winches. I would go that way before buying a Craigslist winch that isn't all there.

I have a Warn HS9500I that I got with a rig trade. The Smitty Built is a friends that he got online for 299.99 with free shipping. Go online and Google 8000 lb winches. You will be able to find Smitty Built and some others in that price range. Something you may also want to check out is getting a synthetic rope on it, some advertise them coming with the synthetic rope and an aluminum fair lead for a couple of hundred more. ( makes them lighter on the front end and safer )
