I've been coresponding with the people on the China site.
If we can do a group buy, 15 units of the snorkels, we can get the price down to about $100 each.
I'll have to order 15 of them, get them delivered here to Arkansas then re-ship them out from here.
They're saying shipping time would be 7 days.
So what do you all think? I'm not 100% sure I want to do this so it is what it is at the moment.

That sounds like a great idea! But having to deal with 15 people I think is just a huge headache unless you think you can handle it?

Here's the problem.

I want a good trail rig, I don't want to worry about knocking this off with a tree branch.

Since I'm doing a custom dash, I had planned on using PVC to plumb the intake to the interior above the passanger side.

Stuff to think about though.

I just got one of these for my 1990 XJ. I made a deal with a less mechanically inclined buddy, buy two, I'll install yours....

Now if it had just come with any kind of instructions....

I do have a pretty damn good idea how but i was wondering if ANYONE has a writeup on PRE-1995 Xj installs?

I can't even buy one anymore since i bought fiberglass fenders and it's a different fit

you will need to get a later model (97+) air box. then it will just slide over the intake hole and tighten the nut.
i had to drill my 2 inch hole in the fender a little oblong so the tube will fit easier.

it's a very simple and easy install, once you have the newer air box.
the hardest part was making the earlier intake tube work between the throttle body and the newer box.
oh, and i think i had to use a 95 top on the 97 box so i had the proper hook ups.

i also just siliconed the mounting holes in the bottom of the box and just let it float so to speak while hooked to the snorkel tube and the intake tube. hasn't moved or let me down.

i also had to cut some of the metal on the inner brace behind the headlight where the snorkel tube mounts up just to fit the tube. then folded/bent the metal as so it wouldn't cut the tube.

easy and done, it's a great mod for insurance purposes only. don't go thinking just because you have a snorkel you can cross deep water. lol.
