Cherokee durby car
So what's to stop me from buying a stock xj and entering it in a demolition durby? I mean it is technically a station wagon.
If 4wd is an issue you could just buy a 2wd one or just drop the front drive shaft. If the height is an issue, you could just cut the coil springs or even just put smaller ones in. Then just take a leaf out of the pack.
These jeeps are bomb-proof, and the straight 6 is known as bullet-proof. It would make an awesome durby car. It would just keep going and going! I'm curious cause a guy at work is in a durby on Saturday with an old grand marquis running the stock 235 tires that I gave him off my jeep before I lifted it. He keeps arguing with me that I wouldn't be allowed to enter a cherokee, but I beg to differ.
What do you guys think?

Paper thin sheetmetal and bumpers, and unibody. An XJ would be horrible for a derby.
And don't kill an old FSJ in a derby. That's just wrong.
I'd get an older Ford truck or Bronco if I wanted to do a derby. They're cheap (Fords dont hold their value), and there's so many of them out there, nobody would care when you destroy it.

Damn I really thought a cherokee would be a prime competitor. The idea of an fsj was just out of curiosity, I wouldn't do that to a real classic (probably should have mentioned that lol), but in all honesty, how do you guys think it would hold up?

Most derby's have classes from age to wheel base etc etc.I don't a xj would fit in any class or if it did it would be in the full size class and get murdered by a B body or crown vic.If it was in the compact class it might make it but that class normally a pinto or chevette wins here.
