FYI:
Might be a good idea for you to check your motor mounts. The Manifold crack is commonly caused by worn drivers side motor mount.

8 on my 91 wheeler, I counted having a D35 as an issue though lol.
I thought about saying just having the D35 give yourself a point haha.

Motor mounts seem alright. Engine idles smooth and no vibes from it. Watching it when its starts there's not what I'd consider enough twist to think they're bad...

But considering this XJ is something I plan to pass on to my son when he's ready to drive (and he's only 4) there are a lot of things on my list to replace, such as mounts. I'm just working my way through things as priorities make themselves via failure, obnoxiousness, or being relatively quick, cheap & easy to do.

Edited to add: Its a very small crack. I haven't found it yet, you can just barely hear the leak and "tinging" of it if you stick your ear close to it. I haven't replaced it yet since it hasn't met any of my 3 requirements (above) to make it a priority, haha!

Mine scored 12. Can we add 2wd to the list as a problem?

The rear drum brakes on my 8.25 don't self adjust. All the hardware is there but the little lever doesn't touch the star wheel. I guess with that problem added mine would score a 13.

Power window and lock issues
Alternator getting wet and dying
Blow-by - PCV/CCV valve clogge or ring wear
Bad grounds-Generally renix
Map Sensor vacuum line crack
Leaking injectors
Heat soak injectors-Probable cause next issue
Exhaust nanifold crack-Probable cause next issue

Rear hatch handle- Does not open

My jeep has had 6 of the issues above, but 5 have been fixed. Valve cover is next. I had to add the linkage one because that seems to be quite common.

Some other less-common issues I've had are...

Leaky freeze plugs (fixed)
Broken center console bracket (probably more common than the freeze plug thing, fixed with gorilla glue and some ingenuity)

2wd isn't really a common issue.

I would say both of those would be considered common issue on the Cherokee. I will add them to the list.

I think I'm almost there. I paid 1300 for this Cherokee a little over a year ago. I have since replaced all of these parts. Not counting upgrades

Engine-296K on clock
Alternator
Starter
Brakes
Calipers
Headliner
U-joints-all front drive shaft
Water pump
Thermostat housing
All cooling hoses
Clutch fan
Electric fan
Motor mounts twice
Tranny mount
Head Light switch
Muffler
Fuel Pump
Fuel Filter
CPS
Plugs,wires,cap,button
Coil
On donor engine-Just about every seal and gasket
Wipers front and back
Transfer case seals
Tires
Exhaust Manifold

Alot of the parts I changed during the engine swap just to save time later on.
