I get waves from most of the lifted trucks in my town, but its a small town, and I've wheeled with these guys a bunch. I do notice that I never get waves from lifted diesels, maybe they are just snobs.

Well they do have a serious case of little pee pee syndrome.

A guy with an exact clone of my XJ pulled up next to me at a traffic light. Only difference between his and mine was his was lifted about 4.5" with Soft 8's wrapped in BFG Mud-Terrains, whereas mine sits stock on Sport 5 spokes with BFG All-Terrains. His was covered in mud and mine was freshly washed, tires shined up and everything.
He gave me a very disappointed look

Sucks for guys like me though. I got the heart of a hardcore wheeler but the shallow pockets of a vagabond. So stock is where I sit. I still wave to every XJ I see but more than often just get dirty looks.
Hey, somebody has to do it!

Lifted XJ's have been popping up all over the place hear lately but don't look like they have been off road. I guess some people like the looks also and that's it.

TJ's around here are far too snobby for that (Or they don't get it)
YJ's are virtually non-existent
Every other XJ is on highway tires except for two, one that I pass on the way to school and one that I pass on the way to work. They both wave.

The Legacy GT crowd is pretty big on "spotting". Any LGT, esp. modded tends to get a wave/nod, and on the legacygt.com forums there are long, organized threads of "spotted" folks. Same thing on NASIOC (Impreza...aka WRX/STI) forums and tons and tons of spots.
I'd give a nod or a wave, but it'd be a small one, low key. I'm driving, and while I'm observant, not my focus. But at lights and such...yeah... a nod or a short wave to the lifted and modded folks. Stockers should at least get a cherokee or Jeep forum sticker of they want to say..."I'm more than just a commoner".
Now if you are parked and around your Jeep...I'll come say hello. Did that last week with a yellow XJ at Pep Boys in Germantown, MD. I grabbed a pic too (but haven't found or started a spotted thread to post it in).

I love the jeep wave!!! I remember when I first lifted my xj I got my very first Jeep wave and got as giddy as a little Japanese schoolgirl. I went home later that night wrote all about it in my diary.
With all kidding aside usually all lifted jeeps will wave to me and sometimes other brands will, but never diesels. There are a bunch of rednecks that hangout at the local dunkin donuts and they just stare.

just snagged a pucture of this cherokee on my way home...
according to the jeep wave website this cherokee would be scoring negatives, it has a bra on, purple tint, and its lowered, plus the tires are only about an inch from rim to road :/ i cant believe someone thought this looks cool, i was embarrassed to have it sitting at the same stoplight as mine...
darn... the picture posted sideways again :/

Well....it's a subjective thing. I agree, it's pretty bad, but folks shouldn't been closed minded enough to say someone shouldn't do it. Perhaps experimentation is at play. Lord knows there are folks here that dislike other's designs.
The premise on something like that ride is perhaps the exact intent to fight the established way. I certainly have subscribed to that notion in many ways. Going outside the box (lol..jeeps being boxy) sometimes is what's required. I know my ride in the end will likely not please the majority, but hey, at least I can do what I want. Same as this person in the lowered and tinted jeep.

Regardless, if I see ANY Jeep stranded on the side of the road I'll stop and see if they need any assistance. To me that's part of owning a Jeep, to help out fellow Jeepers in need.

I usually only wave at the lifted rigs also. Seems like all the stock looking rigs have huge *** rims or look like they are owned by a drug dealer. So I dont even bother.
