I saw pictures of them taking the actual cigarette lighter and using it as a button not a fake cigarette lighter.

Way too much trouble for a stupid switch. Just put an actual switch in there 007.

Did the lighter work normally before you started this?

Then I would think you could make some use of it. A quick google search and others that do this remove the coil and rig up a contact. The coil is likely putting too much resistance on the circuit.

yeah, I want to try that, but I don't know how they are replacing the coil, the say replace it with wire but I have yet to see a picture of the cigarette lighter with the coil replaced... Looks like I'll do some more searching

A cigarette lighter is nothing more than a fancy short to ground. You pull the element out and you have a direct short to ground. A switch completes one leg of the circuit, be it the ground or positive side. A switch doesn't send voltage to ground.

which is why there isn't a positive and negative wire hooked up. Just two legs of the circuit

I want to use it as a momentary switch, when you push the button, have ground to one leg of the cigarette lighter, have the ground from the horn solenoid to the other leg of the cigarette lighter, when you push in complete the circuit honk the horn.

Have you thought about using some kind of push bottom horn type switch and hiding it under the carpet where your foot can press it? No one will know its there but you.
