Jeeze I've never heard of poly dry rotting like that. The FBG spacers are durometer rated above 95 (I have no idea what this means, just read it somewhere) which apparently is as good as a poly spacer can get. Delrin spacers are an option, too, but I believe the right poly spacers are superior in terms or ride quality. I have heard my share of block horror stories. Braking/failing, axle-wrap etc. The blocks are basically a last resort option to me if I can't do something with my shackle. IF I did anything with blocks it would be done "right" (as right as blocks can be I guess) with one piece of solid steel. No stacking, no aluminum. It would be half to 3/4 inch tops anyway lol.

I dont know what kind he had. Most likley they were el cheapo parts store brand. They were universal. Do what you want. Just giving my opinions and past experiences

I appreciate the input, man. Differing opinions are how I'm being helped toward a decision. I love healthy discussion and debates. When it turns into personal attacks or someone saying "sell your Jeep you don't deserve it because you don't want to pour money into it!" then it becomes a useless discussion.

You should buy these. I have had this setup on my Jeep for 4 years and it rides just as good as it did stock. That also probably depends on the shock you use, I have the MX9000, but I can say from experience that these coils work great. I have over 30,000 miles on that setup including a trip from Oklahoma to California. Good luck with your build.

You can get a set of extended shackles for relativity cheap, I did as budget as possible for the lift I have. I have 2 inch coil spacers and am running T-bird coils witch gives me about 5.5 inches of lift and did the dodge Dakota bastard pack with extended shackles, all said and done cost me about $250 not including shocks and brake lines or tires. I am even running the stock track bar and no transfer drop and stock lca and uca and i have yet to brake any running gear while wheeling. I wheel with some pretty serious guys too with 1tons and all locked up i am open open and can keep up no problem. You can successfully build a jeep with a tight budget, I speak from experience. I would look into shackles before blocks, I have just heard too many bad things about blocks to consider them.

$250 for a 5.5" lift? Now that's a budget build. How far is your axle pulled with the stock track bar and that lift? I was going to get a $30 bracket to avoid the guess work of drilling my own adjustment...

Also since we've got a fair amount of attention, let's hear some opinions on brake lines. Do I need extended ones? Can I just re-route my stock ones for 3 inches? Ready, go! lol

For 3" you can reroute them but they're still going to limit flex. Find some YJ brake lines and you're good to go.

Please dont use your stock trackbar for anything over 3 inches. Just because it can be done doesnt mean it should. There is a line between budget lifted xj and a complete junk box that has horrid suspension geometry. Get some decent brake lines. I bought RE 6 inch lift brake lines for 50 bucks. New in package from a member here. Deals are out there. Just ask yourself. Do you want a well built rig on a budget. Or another horribly built beater box

Been wheeling and DD it for 9 months like that and haven't had 1 problem, it is on my top priority to fix though, been looking for used double sheers because they are more expensive then my whole lift new

I think you should be good with relocating the stock brake line brackets. I did that when I was playing around on 4.5" and stock lca's and they just started to become tight at full droop. Get her lifted then play around with a jack for brakeline and shock measurements.

Best of luck to you, keep an eye out on craigslist aswell.
