Well thats good to no! And no rust issues that i no of. Rust aint to big of a problem in alabama lol. Yeah il prolly do frame stiffners and a cage jus to b safe! And i saw a dovetailed xj over on pirate and it was a beast!

THe unibody on the xj is stiffer then ppl think. As long as you keep roof intact you can cut as high as you like as long as your rig doesnt have rust issues.
THe cage I have in my rig is so rigid.. I can jack left corner of rig up.. and lift whole rig.
Personally the next xj I build I am going to narrow the rear by pie cutting the roof and angling it all in.

OP-i would build a 1x1 box tube frame for the sheet metal on the wheel well tubs just for a little support at a minimum.
i would still be caging it if you are doing trails requiring a stretch.........

Yeah im plannin on doin a exo but i gotta get a tube bender first. I bought a pipe bender without research and its garbage so i gotta fork out some more money for a JD2 and do it right! Thanks everyone for the advise!
