Craigslist rusted rims makeover found for 75
First of all, I'm posting from my phone so forgive my grammar.
Sup guys, just wanted to post a great deal I found on Craigslist, found 4 15x8 cragar 320 rims (or knockoffs) for 75 bucks! 1 rim had a good amount of rust and the other 3 were pretty clean.
First of all I hate chrome on a jeep, just not my cup of tea I guess.
So i guess I didn't really think it out and went to buy some "shadow" paint by duplicolor that is designed to paint over chrome with out needing a primer.
I painted all 3 rims that were in good
Condition and was hoping I can get the rusted rim and get it treated, paint it with a base silver and then spray some black over it and hope for a similar result as the other 3 rims. But after all said and done. That rusted rim was a pain in the *** and I didn't think it was possible to get the same result as the others. Plus im a dumb *** and left the weights from the tire balance on the painted rims. So I took all 4 rims to get sand blasted at my dads work. Did all 4 in about 15min.
First picture shows the rims the day I bought them, you can see the rusted rim. 2nd picture is after I painted the 3 good rims with the shadow paint. And last is after them being sand blasted.
My next step is either to paint or powder coat. I got a quote for 100 bucks for all 4 rims to
be coated a semi gloss black. But still deciding what to do the finish with. I'm on a budget. Also going to paint the rivets red to match my jeep. I should have end results by the weekend. So far I've put 95 bucks into these rims including the price 75 bucks to purchase them.
Let me know what you think

Added a coat of Primer, about 4 coats of black, painted the rivets red, now done.
What do you guys think? Might paint the rivets black or silver not sure if I'm digging the red rivets. Going to see if it will grow on me. Ill mount the rims this week and post pix. Going to give them a few days to dry out in the sun...

Few pictures with the wheels on, bought the center caps but they are chrome so will
Need to paint them black before I put them on. What do you guys think? On the last pictures I was parked on a small rock trying to flex a bit.
