D.I.Y Roller Fairlead License Plate Bracket
Hello everyone, ...... I just made my own Winch Roller Fairlead License Plate Bracket and figured I'd show how I did it. In case someone else would like to do the same and is cheap like me and did not want to spend the $30-$40 bucks for the ones sold from quadratec, 4wheelparts, 4wd, ect, ect.... It only cost me a grand total of $10.00 Bucks.
What I purchased was (2) Sets of Maglite D-Cell Brackets that are the perfect size for clipping onto your Roller Fairlead.
(1) Pair of Maglite D-Cell Brackets Cost $4.99,.. I purchased (2) so total came to $10.00 Bucks.
I used my factory front bumper license plate holder,...I trimmed off the bottom portion along the bottom edge of the bracket. Then measured the distance needed and screwed the Maglite D-Cell Brackets on the back side of the Factory license plate holder. Then screwed on my license plate and attached the Maglite D-Cell Bracket clips to the roller fairlead. And it works great. Holds very strong. Not loose at all. Its like the two were made for each other.
Here's some pictures of what it looks like.

Because in the state of Virginia anything that measures more than 18-20" from the ground to the bottom of your bumper on a regular passenger license plate is ILLEGAL. I know because I got stopped and got a ticket for being to high. So the State Tropper told me if I Got TRUCK tags I would be within the Legal limits and be ok. Truck tags allow more Height.

Hey thanks, but it wasn't my idea,.... unfortunately I can't take the credit for it. I saw the write up for it over on jeepforum. But they only used (1) pair of the maglite d-cell clips. To hold there license plate on. Which I guess would be fine because that's all the actual license plate brackets you would buy have. But I opted to put (2) per side,.. I figured it would be extra security. They are made out of plastic so if (1) were to brake the other would hold.
Yep sure is. Only cost you $10 bucks if you decide to use (2) sets like I did. And if you still have your factory front bumper license plate holder you wouldn't have to buy one of those either. You could only buy (1) pair of the maglite d-cell clips for only $5 bucks and just use the (1) pair instead. Either way would work.

awesome idea man. Might be better than what i was gonna do. i was planing on hitting the JY and finding an old 60s-80s flip down plate holder off an impala or a cutlass. but this seems like it would work very well

Ya they work really really well. They Hold strong onto the roller fairlead. You really have to pull hard to get them to come off when you would need to use your winch. So you don't have to worry about them accidentally coming loose while driving down the road. Its like the two were made for each other.

The idea is to have the license plate clipped to the roller fairlead while driving it on the road as a DD. But when I go offroad pull and unclip the front license plate from the roller fairlead so I can use the winch when ever needed. Pretty simple really.
I had checked Wal-mart ,..... Lowes ,.... & Home Depot ,.... and couldn't find them,... but had went to the Bass Pro Shop for lunch and decided to do some shopping while I was there and they had them.

If you can't find them in a retail store near you,....you could always just order them online. Here's multiple places that sell them. Link provided below.
