Ok, ol Betty is a 94 xj, was attempting a redneck alignment after getting tires rotated & thought it looked super toed out... so I jack her up to check wheel play & ball joints before starting, we'll good thing cause I noticed my axle is just laying in the shaft. My question is if there is an inner bearing for the axle to live in? There are inches of play on the wheel up down sideways like the damn thing is going to fall off. She's my daily driver-with 2 kids-need to fix her asap. Looking for this mystery bearing all over, only to keep finding that tapered bearing for the rear of diff going to driveshaft.![Brick Wall](https://www.cherokeeforum.com/images/smilies/brickwall.gif)
Thoughts, answers, advice? Thanx all!

No.the shaft goes into the carrier and the carrier has bearings pressed on it.
Sounds like your unit bearing hub is in need of replacement. Pics or video would help a lot.

I'll do my diff seals also when I get the new hubs. Will be starting an ol Betty thread as she's a complete tear down rebuild. Motor mounts next-they won't be OE, so advice on what I can do there would be a blessing. I'll see of I can't get a video of this wheel after I jack her up. Thanx man

I realized after exhausted research, my pos hubs I put on last year were Chinese crap, I'll be putting the old ones back on until I get my Timkens. Knew I should have done that to begin with! ![Frown](https://www.cherokeeforum.com/images/smilies/frown.gif)

This is the pos value craft, almost 1/2 of play!
