I don't remember if the Dana 44 under the rear of my Jeep is from a J-10 or a Wagoneer. The diff is offset to the pass side by a couple of inches. Either way it is a 44 and its a 28 spline, will a GM 10 bolt 28 spline or a 30 spline (if I go to 30 spline chromoly axles) fit in this housing? Thanks

 

Dana 44's never had 28 splines!

If it is a Dana 44 it would be 30 spline, or the very early ones were 19 spline. J10 and Wag would have 30 spline unless it is a very early Wag. then it could have 19.

If you are talking 10 bolt Chevy, NO!

 

I think the AMC 20 has 28 splines and came in Waggys and J10s.

 

The AMC model 20 rear axle has 29 spline axles!!
