Dashboard replacement
I drive a stick 95 xj and the dash only has a gas gauge and a speed gauge. Is there anyway to get a new dash with a rpm gauge also or would it be simpler to just buy one of those add-on rpm gauges?

Add on RPM gauge is WAY easier i did it to my 5 speed xj (i dont see why it didnt come stock on a 5 speed but oh well) As for the MPH and gas gauge i would attempt to repair it before making any purchases, google and youtube will be your best friend.

What am I not understanding? I don't see anywhere that something is malfunctioning. I see the OP has the base model gauge cluster with speedo, fuel, and idiot lights. He wants the cluster with speedo, tach, and 4 smaller gauges.
At least I think that's what's going on. It would probably be the same amount of work to add a stand alone tach or to replace the whole cluster, but with the cluster you get more info (oil pressure, actual temp, etc).

You can buy a gauge cluster on eBay for around $95 with full instruments. The swap is pretty easy, but you have to also replace both the temperature sending unit and the oil pressure sending unit as your OEM units will be for the dummy lights. I would tell you to go OEM Mopar for those, because otherwise your readings will be off or the senders will leak. Those two sending units will run around $80 for both if you research a good buy on the Internet. The dealer will rip you off, so avoid them if you can. That's a pretty expensive upgrade, but to me it was worth it.
Here's a good write up on the procedure:

^^This is true, you will need two new sending units. Those clusters come up here fairly often, seen them as low as $60, think I got mine for $75 shipped. Worth it to me as well.
As far as work involved, replacing a couple senders and a cluster is as easy as tapping into a wire in the engine bay, running it cleanly through the firewall, and mounting it up in the corner of a dash. YMMV.
