My rig has pretty sloppy steering so people just assume I am really drunk. Most don't take the chance to drive in front of me so I don't have that issue

Avoid Davis AutoSports
I have been looking for a xj low miles and came across Davis auto sports, their xjs look really nice with low miles.. Kinda pricey but all done up.. Has anyone had any experience with them good or bad. I live in MA and they are from VA so I would have to buy online and get it shipped without ever seeing the vehicle. Are these Jeeps to good to be true , are they just covering up all the rust and rot with armor paint?

This thread kind of caught my attention. I purchased my 01 XJ from a doctor who told me he bought it from DAS in 2016 for his son. I know the PO and his son are not a mechanics so the problems I have spent the past four months correcting were clearly that way when it was purchased in 2016. The issues range from just using cheap parts to just plain sloppy repair work. Some of the sloppy work for example, the rear ABS wires are physically cut and just hang from the bracket on the rear axle housing. The rear brake backing plates have no sensors installed and the axles themselves have no reluctor rings pressed on them. Clearly when someone installed the rear disk brake conversion they just didn't bother to install the rear ABS. Which leads me to a question, I have no dash ABS light and there are no error codes being thrown so I assume the ABS system has somehow been disabled. I have to say I'm not entirely sorry the ABS is non-functional, but I am concerned that maybe the ABS system could still be active for the front wheels. Is it possible for only the front ABS to be active or does the cut rear ABS wires indicate the entire ABS system has been disabled? Is there any way to determine what was done to disable the ABS, pulled fuse or something like that? BTW, where specifically is the ABS fuse located? A couple of the cheap issues I have corrected were a plastic tank aftermarket stock style radiator that was leaking and a set of mis-matched Icon wheels that appeared to have been painted with a rattle can. Both radiator and wheels have since been replaced BTW. Another issue was that the rear brakes look nearly new while the front brakes were worn to the point of needing new pads and rotors. According to the mileage recorded on the title the PO only put about 15000 miles on it so the front brakes had to have been marginal when he purchased it from DAS. I have to say I am not impressed with the workmanship I have seen personally.

Pop the hood and check to see if the ABS pump is even still there. It'll be on the driver's side fender.
DAS is still around so obviously there are plenty of people out there willing to drop big bucks for a "restored" XJ that's basically been polished up and had the fluids changed.

Sounds like all too common dealer shenanigans, especially used car dealers. I avoid them like the plague. (You have to wonder how a gyp joint like that can stay in business for years.)

I created an account solely to confirm what others have said.
Here's what I've done to the "restored" Jeep I bought last June (not the optional or the routine, just what I needed to fix is listed here).
Other things of note:
I reached out to them on receipt identifying my frustrations, which I listed as: failure to include the title with the Jeep so I could not register the vehicle; the paint issues; the broken latch and missing fuse box cover; sticky latch on the driver's seat belt (I know, I know, but I paid through the nose for a "fully restored" vehicle); and absolutely ZERO communication about when the Jeep and the title would arrive. As the kids would say, I can "show you the receipts."
He responded that he would call me that night.
It's been 14 months. I don't think he's going to call...
They have used pictures of my Jeep for a different listing.
Oh, and I called them about a month after delivery to try to buy a single wheel. Still waiting on a return for that call, too.
Here's what I've done to the "restored" Jeep I bought last June (not the optional or the routine, just what I needed to fix is listed here).
- New windshield
- New passenger door window motor
- Track bar adjustment
- New radiator, new thermostat
- New leak detection pump assembly
- Headlamp adjustment
- New plugs
- New key (now have two transmitters, yet it only came with one and one of the buttons didn't have a cover)
- Intake manifold debris shield (old warranty issue, not fixed!)
- New crank position sensor
- Quadratech all season mats (I mention this because I asked for them to be in the vehicle at time of delivery)
- Odyssey battery (vehicle had an old battery)
- NOS MOPAR latch for the center console (latch was broken)
- NOS MOPAR fuse box cover, passenger footwell (no cover)
- A/C compressor, belt
Other things of note:
- I should've paid more attention/thought more about the radio they put in when I asked for phone compatibility. It requires a USB cord. It was 2019 when I bought the Jeep.
- They did NOT strip the vehicle at any point - it's clear from the bolts on the sill covers
- Bed liner overspray on paint near handle
- Title did not arrive for OVER A MONTH AFTER delivery, leaving me without a legal vehicle
- They gave the delivery guys my old address, which fortunately is only 7 miles from my current address
- They did some sort of clear coat, but they did it badly, and almost every panel now has paint issues. I'll attach some photos. The areas that are now in worst shape were evident on delivery.

That be me... ugh.
This thread did finally motivate me to post my experience as a Google review.
