Did I steal this?
This is the jeep I was wondering about the axle swap from my 91 limited.
I just got it home and wondering if the cop I bought it from should have arrested me for theft. I got this for about $600 US.
It does need brakes and front ujoints but the thing that scared her was the transfer case chain vibration. She couldn't find anyone to tell her what was wrong. I drove 10 miles down the road and removed the front drive shaft and cruised back home 3 hours at about 70mph. no vibration anymore!
Tires have 10,000 on them, Oil is clean tranny clean and bright no burn't smell. floors rust free and solid good exhaust (except for cat shroud) interior clean non smoker. I was going to pay $500 for a 95 country with a blown engine!
Should I feel bad?

Yes and you should feel terrible. As repentance you should sell to me at a small profit of say $800?!
Nice purchase, good luck with it.

wow, great deal. i wouldn't feel bad at all, unless you know the cop.
the noise is probably just your front driveshaft double cardon u-joints.
you could rebuild it with a new centering ball also, or just grab another shaft from the junk yard. i'm sure that's all it is, the t-case was most likely never even put in 4wd.
good score.

The joints feel tight to me. Checked them when I got the shaft off. I'm going to replace them anyways Will try it before pulling transfer case apart. Nice thing is I don't have to completly remove it to repair the chain and output shaft brearings if I want to replace them.
AND NOT IT"S NOT FOR SALE ROFLMAO

Just swapped axles from my 91 (just did the ujoints Axles are much thicker!) and did a complete front brake overhaul.
Then went for a 50 km trip to a party. Wife loves this new jeep. much quieter and the AC works along with all the other bells and whistles. All lights except the cargo are working.
Still have front driveshaft off. Will change the ujoints on it sometime next week. Will reinstall and check for vibration. If it is the drive chain have already found sources for parts and gaskets. Will change bearings while I'm at it. Looks like a $200 repair (Canadian money remember)
Thanks for the $900 offer but I think this is definatly a keeper!!
