i mustve passed 20 XJs today. every clean one i looked at and thought about giving a wave to, was either an old geezer, or some lady in her 40s. I guess I could start waving at the ladies...

Yeah, I only wave to cherokee if they have mods. The wave usually comes before I wave so it makes me feel good that I'm doing something right with my jeep.

Most people own Cherokees because they're cheap, not because they're legendary. I never got the wave while stock. I watched. I heard about the wave and I wanted it, I needed the wave. No wave. I waved but nobody noticed, even when done vigorously like a simpleton.
Then I lifted it, painted black stripes on the hood, and got bigger tires. Suddenly, the waves started rolling in. Jeep people notice other Jeep people, it's like a sixth sense. I feel like I notice every XJ and I can tell by the driver if a wave is warranted. If they're checking out my rig, I wave, even if they're driving a stocker because I remember when that was me. Most stock XJ drivers don't notice me or anything else, because they're not Jeep People, they're leaning forward in the seat with a zombie-like focus on the destination and they probably don't even know what kind of car they have let alone what I'm driving.

Watch out for the lifted Wranglers. At least around here it's pretty common for them to be just for show and the wave will be lost on them. I find it hard to believe anybody would lift an XJ just for show.

I needa put in a new radio and i already have new tires i just wish they would wave back at me!

Here's a wave I'm missing out on: There's a cute girl in town with a sick Wrangler and it's defiantly taken offroad. I know it's not her BF's because it says "Jeeps are for Girls" on the back. I've seen her a couple times but sadly I was in my DD so I didn't get any play.

Saw a 2-door lifted, tires and with the doors off today we almost waved but we just looked at eachother. Kinda akward like we both were reading this thread.
Now that I think about it, we were heading different ways. Him to the country and me to the city.

Lol, kinda expected that response from someone on here... Now they wave, they must be into that kinda thing. Don't know...
Wife: "Do you know that girl?"
Me: "Nope"
Wife: "Sure looks like she knows you!"
Me: "she drives a Cherokee, it's a Jeep thing...you wouldn't understand."

Always, most wave back some wave to me first. I remember when I was still stock and I saw another Cherokee and he was all up over his steering wheel try in to see if I had a 2 door (he did) as soon as he did a rather excited wave followed
