"Do it yourself" window tint.
I was just wondering if anyone had done anything like this and if so was it difficult. Local places have given me estiments of $300+ and I have found several places to get the pre cut window tint for under $40.. Thanks in advance!

Oh, you meant op, yeah $300 sounds high but I suppose the highest quality tint would be around that much.
Edit: mine is suntek tint

DONT DO IT YOURSELF !!!
Trust me I bought a pre cut kit for my xj and it didn't turn out perfect ( my fault ) but the tint is only 6 months old maybe and it's fading already and it's getting spots in the tint and I ordered 10% and they sent me more like 30% could have been just a bad experience but it's worth the extra money to get it done professionally plus most guys guarantee their work

Ive done a few myself. If you buy the tools (like 10$... sqweege, razor, spray bottle) and take your time its not bad. Ive never had an issue with wrong $ tint.. just make sure you buy from a reputable source. If you are in a hurry, you'll mess it up. If you are not patient, take it to a shop.
I helped a buddy a while back with some eBay tint... looked good and stuck well but turned purple in a year or so lol.

You can do it but its hard to look pro when your done,The glass has to be super clean and anything sticks to the tint. The last car i did with the you cut it type looked ok but you could tell it wasnt a pro job.

I used to tint windows in High School. It's really not hard, especially in our XJ's as the windows are straight & not curved like cars. The key is prep, clean, clean, then clean again. Use a "scotch bright pad" when cleaning your windows.
Like said above buy from a local autozone or pepboys. I'd stay away from eBay & such. Watch some YouTube videos, and buy good squeegees.
Cheap easy mod. If a window comes out bad, just pull tint, wash & repeat. If you can get it done for $150-$200, that'll be worth it, you will spend close to that on material & your time.

I've tinted windows in cars several times, and while it can be a bit frustrating it isn't hard. The windows must be super clean and you'll need several cheap tools; new razor blades (the razor blade pen type work great), a spray bottle with soapy water in it, a small squeegee (I trimmed down a dollar store dustpan to make mine), and some masking tape.
If at all possible, do this in a garage where there is no wind. Wind will ruin you as you do this... Do it when it is warm, as when it is cold the adhesive won't stick as well.
Patience and don't be in a hurry....and buy a little extra tint in case you mess up some. CLEAN windows!
