The TW kit IS NOT just shortened and then packaged up to be sold as an SYE. There's plenty of machining done to turn the OEM core into a true SYE kit that keeps the yoke inside the tailcone.

I don't see anyone agreeing with you in way.
the amount of work does not change the fact that it is a cut down stock shaft

that's because you are only looking at this thread, do some searching and you will see it has been argued many times

I look at it this way.. The machining and work T-Woods has put into the SYE kit for the NP242 is way better then some yahoo going out and cutting off the end of the stock tail shaft and tapping a hole..

Don'tget me wrong I'm a yahoo.. I have the IRO H&T. The IRO has been doing good for me now for a few years. I'm no crazy rock wheeler, just logging trails and old mining roads and fun stuff.
I went IRO because I love my NP242 for winter driving. Plus T-woods wanted some high price on shaft core. Being up in Alaska shipping is a ripoff anyways. I didn't want to deal with shipping and the headache if our great mail service(USPS sled dogs)would get it to them..

But if I have to do it again because IRO fails on me (knocks on wood),,I might go with TomWoods..

Here is a pic of my IRO H&T.. Never mind how clean my pavement princess is, its been awhile since Ive been out.. But hell most roads traveled around Alaska are wheeling trips ..lol

The kit also includes an original equipment speedometer housing which has been re-machined to accept a standard ISI Seal Group # 62676 which is equal to the following major brands; National # 8695S or Chicago Rawhide (CR) # 15460.

Core charge is $400.00. Core required for speedometer housing and main-shaft. To receive full core credit, original main-shaft and speedometer housing must be returned undamaged and in good condition. Bent main shafts will not be accepted for core refund. Return freight will be at customers expense..

Prices begin at $470 and includes a custom Constant Velocity (CV), Double Cardan Drive shaft."

its a hacked, machined, cut, splined, tapped stock shaft, nothing more, nothing less, but its not a hack and tap.

you basically described a hack n tap you even said it is hacked

regardless how you look at it the tw and the iro hack n tap are BOTH stock shafts that are modified to accept a yoke one is extremely more expensive

a true sye replaces the stock shaft with a stronger aftermarket shaft with more splines

is tw stronger then iro? probably is it as strong as a sye for a 231? NO

you are correct except, even though it is machined down and hacked or whatever/stock material etc etc etc. it is a true sye.

Its kind of like arguing using a stock front driveshaft & having it cut down to use as your rear shaft, compared to buying a super expensive one of better material from tom woods. Its still a driveshaft even though it was cut down and re-balanced.

The stock shaft is long and necks down quite a bit, with 27 splines at the end. The SYE shaft is cut at the thick part and has 32 splines. The stock shaft is weaker than the machined shaft as a result of the thin extra length.
