I'll probably rent one then since I'll more than likely be doing it myself. Got a garage and plenty of tools. Dropped my XJ off at the body shop a bit ago so I'm guessing it'll be at least a week before I can get to it. Thanks for the tips.

I went through almost the same trouble in reverse. I wanted the upcountry look as well. So I put the dormans in the rear, and added a 1" spacer to the existing coils up front (did not put the isolators back in). However, the front sat a bit low, and I was getting more front end vibration without the isolators (the spacers were stiffer and less absorbing of vibration).

So after a short time, I had to buckle down and tear it all apart again, just to add a 1/2" isolator back to each side. In the end it looked and felt perfect, so it was worth the effort. But it was HARD to get up the motivation to go in there a second time.

It was raining when I did mine too!

Amazon Amazon

Under 30 bucks shipped, not too bad to have one on hand.

Yeah, I'm not sure I'm happy with the Zone 3/4" spacers. I have new isolators, so I might get back under there at some point. That will drop it a half inch I think and might be the sweet spot.
Once I figured out the tricks and tips it wasn't that bad. Proper tools and work environment make it almost a breeze. Another hand helps as well.

If I had a friend helping me, it would have been MUCH easier and faster. I probably wouldn't have even need to compress the springs.

Before

After removing isolator and got my new shoes

Yep, I realized after pulling off molding that at some point the driver's rear door was replaced.
Oh well, still opens.
Going to convert it into a full time Jethromobile. Jethro is girlfriend's Dutch Shepherd.
With that being said, subscribers to this thread get first dibs at my back seat since I'm getting rid of it.
If nobody wants it here I'll put it in the marketplace. I'm giving it away for shipping to y'all.
If I have to put it in the marketplace I'll put a price tag on it, albeit a very conservative one I'm sure.

That leveled her out. Looks good. Hope you'll like those Grabbers as much as I do. So how's it ride? Any vibrations? Although I wouldn't think so.

Thanks! Good idea, I fixed it.
They ride good, a little more high pitch noise and a little rougher but I had less aggressive tires plus the spacer is hard urethane. I am very pleased, already had a couple of complements.

Great work. Stance looks good!

If you start to get a slight vertical shutter in the steering wheel, especially under certain engine loads, or on certain sections of road, just know that the isolators are playing a role there. Worse case, you can pull the spacers, put slightly shorter ones in (shorter by 1/2 inch) and add the isolators back in. Plus do your sway bar to frame bushings at the same time.

U-joints are usually pretty unhappy right after a slight change in ride height as well. So it can be hard to tell the difference between a u-joint that is settling into a new position vs. the lack of isolators. u-joints will typically smooth out in a couple hundred miles, but the vibes from poly spacers will remain. So give it a little time.

Well done Brawnydog--much better after removing the isolator. I hate "rake look" on an XJ, so it looks great to me. The tires finished it off well too!

Just like mine: (oughtta be...same parts!!) I don't experience any vibrations from my Teraflex 3/4" spacers though...
