Take it with a grain of salt........I'm a mechanic with 30 years experience and 21 certifications, when they disagree with what I have to say......I normally just move on to the next thread. You can only help those who truly want the help.

I say don't stop posting. I know how you feel. Sometimes it feels like everyone has nothing nice to say. Just remember it's only a few words that are posted and have nothing to do with your personality and the person you are. and I like your posts so don't stop.

Besides how many more people are on this early on Saturday

I know nothing about Jeeps--but learning, thanks to all the great people here. Like the others have stated, one has to take things with a grain of salt. Many people get very brave, dumb and ignorant behind a computer monitor. Many probably do not proof read their posts. And sometimes the poster is kidding, but sarcasm does not always show well on written work, lol If you enjoy posting, please post away. I and others always enjoy learning new stuff.

Also, pick up a factory service manual or a Chilton or Haynes manual...the FSM is the way to go but they can be pricey.
Just my 2 cents.
fwiw there is no such thing as an ASC mechanic. There is ASE certification and there are different certifications. There is no manufacturer specific ASE certification. There is a master ASE certification which means the mechanic has passed all the tests. ASE is not a be all end all though but it it very good. I work with a guy who has been in the field since 1976 and really knows his stuff, he is not certified. I've been at it since 1993 and I'm ASE certified in engine repair only...not brakes, not engine performance, not suspension, not electrical etc. Last year was my first recertification and I only missed 1 question out of 50. The first time I took the test I took it at the same time as my boss who has been in the business since about 1949 or 1950 and I only missed four questions and he missed 6. To this day it is my shining ,moment

Hope that helps and here's a link to just the Automobile and Light Truck certifications

There will always be somebody that will argue that the sky is green and the grass is red, don't let it get to you too much. It can be fun to prove a blowhard wrong though.

People fix a few things on one vehicle and suddenly they are a master mechanic. It happens. I'm a mechanic, when the shop I worked for went out of business (owner died) I took a job in a parts store. 6 months later basically quit **** that place,
To prove everyone in the entire world is a raging idiot except a few, I'll share with you the number one occourance.

Thank you for calling autozone this is X speaking how may I help you?

"Yeah I need some parts"

15 weeks go by.

me: sighs, what vehicle?

or how about the people who dont know what motor it is, or whats worse WHAT YEAR IT IS.

I hate people.
yea, what's worse though is when you go into a parts store (*caugh pepboys caugh*) you know ALL the info on your XJ, 4.0L, 4x4, blah blah. The dude at the counter types away on his comp for 3 hours, goes to get your part, spends another 3 hours in the back, hands you the part and you know right away it's the wrong part! haha

Or how about when you special order a part, they say they're going to call you when it comes in. 3 weeks go by without a word, so you decide to check in and they say
"Oh, no one called you?! Yeah it's been here for 2 weeks."
you
"Okay, thanks... I'm coming over RIGHT NOW to pick it up!"

And THEN you get there 15 min later and NO ONE IN THE STORE CAN FIND THE PART!!!!

sorry for going on and on,
does anyone else feel me here?!
haha

Hey everybody has defects but most can't admit even one. So more power to ya. To counterbalance your "defect" I'd point out your ability to admit it is a character "plus".

Should I be the pity-party pooper? Because I read a post like this prolly once a week. Sorry, I tend to agree with razor02097:

Maybe it's just me ... but if I were going to stop posting I doubt seriously I would make a thread announcing it to the board. I would just disappear. I'm no expert on anything Jeep, and people disagree with me all the time. As they will in a minute. Even at work where I'm the boss. I suck it up and move on. Like most adults.
Sounds like someone needs a lollipop.

Ummm they didn't make a Chevy Bronco until 2002. I know this because they ended the XJ before those came out. People these days need to learn there stuff.
