Default driver side window replacement ?

So my other xj a 94' needs the window replaced since the PO broke it trying to manually force it up.
I already have the window but... 1. i cant find out how to get it out.
2. how do i put it in the 94 xj.
3. the window is still stuck in the drive side door.
Does anybody have a write up for this ?

i dont have pics or a write up but i can kinda tell u how to do it i'm gutting a set of doors to make half doors i just took mine apart

1.take the door panel off -the trim that goes around the door (3) screws arm rest (2) screws the bottoms and sides mat clip (little plastic clip) on and the top has a lip it goes over but before u can do that you can undo the rods that connects the handle and door lock or to make it easier to put back on i just turn the whole plastic peace and just push it through the whole in the door panel
2.k now with the door panel off you can see the window rod/track and there is at the bottom of the would be window (sense yours is broke) its a white plastic circle tab that has a torx screw in it remove it and there is two side to that tab that holds the window now i had to remove the rubber trim that the window sits in on the sides to get the glass out i dont know if there is a way that u can get it out with removing the trim

Anyone know for sure if you have to take the rubber parts on each side off?? I've got one side off, wasn't sure if you have to do both. Also, is it easier putting the new glass in from the inside of the door or the outside? 2/3rds the way through right now and I really don't feel like braking another piece of good glass.

I fixed mine the arm with the torx was pointed down and not up. Easy fix. Also I got mine in without removing the rubber. You gotta soapy water it and wiggle it in also being on the inside.

Gotcha. I shattered mine, that's why I'm replacing it. But I get the torx thing, only difference on mine is I'm putting a 96 window (torx style) in my 90 (bolt through style). Pretty sure I'll be able to get it to work, just need to get the glass in the door first.

Yeah should work as long as you can bolt the window to the arm thing. Liberal use of soap !

hate to bump such an old thread but I just replaced my pass side window on my 90 xj. It was one of the most tedious jobs ever, but i got it done. A few quick tips for anyone trying this next:
  • soapy water is a MUST HAVE! I just poured a lil dish soap into a water bottle and poked a hole on the cap. Works best when its poured down the rails.
  • I removed the 2 phillips screws above the vent window and the screw going thru the vent glass. I also remove the bolt on the bottom of the left rail. This gave me a lot of wiggle room.
  • I dropped the glass to the bottom of the door and placed the glass in the right side rail first.(remember this is pass side) Then wiggled the left rail on and bolted everything back on.

hope this helped, if anyone has any questions shoot me a pm
