If it's going to be as much as is being suggested, I'll keep what I have. A re-manufactured engine is $2000 and a $1000 head won't be worth anything to me.

Obviously the head is not going to be for everyone, but then again you find many XJ drivers willing to spend $2k on a reman. engine either.
The bottom line is this, some people see beyond the price tag and buy to suit their needs and to build what they see as the right rig for them. Others try to get by with the least amount spent on their rig and aren't as concerned with engine performance.
There's no right or wrong, there are simply different opinions/goals.
Don't be a hater just because you (in general) can't afford or justify the cost.
Hell fellas....no one even knows what is going to cost yet.

I wouldn't call it hating, simply pointing out the obvious. the inherently poor head design is what I hate on. and since edelbrock cast their own head why the hell didn't they do something about it. I would spend $2500 on a cross flow head and matching edelbrock intake before I'd spend $1k on a head that will pick up 15 hp. when an equal performance result of doing a head swap is removing the spare tire and racing with 1/8 tank of gas one must question what's going on.

Competition--
Clearwater aftermarket head with big valves $585
Clearwater aftermarket head bare $400
SS valves 2.02/1.62 $250
beehive springes, retainers, locks $200
assembly, 3 angle valve job, porting- $?
Edelbrock Alumn head, stock size valves ?$1500
Future- Victor cnc ported, big valve option ?$2000
What is the flow of all these options?

Did we get a definite price yet?
Im sitting with a fresh stroked engine on the stand and im at a cross roads this head or sending my bare cast to the head guy. He wants 850. For head work and subsequent intake work. He does awsome work with all my LS stuff. Not sure of his skills with a jeep head but then again not sure of edelbrocks skills with one either.
Then again they do have all the toys to test with.

They are boasting about 30+ hp gain and about 30+ torque. No idea on price...too much probably.

LOL
NTY
Brand new re-manufactured engine is $2000 shipped to my door.
And for the extra cost of that head? I can get a Baja stroker with double the torque and the double the HP from ATK or Jasper.

Thats crazy. Edelbrock is not know for world class heads. Decent street heads at best. I was really thinking around the 700-850 range. Im glad I didn't wait for this one. I sent a "tupy" off along with the intake and had them both worked over extensively for far less then that.
