The used tire guys usually charge $15 per.

I'm thinking time, effort, use of balancing machine, and weights, $15 per is not a rip off. Even if you bring them new rims/tires who drives away without letting them mount them up to save a couple bucks...

Some guys are just cheap.

Not true. stickey wheights can be put on the inside of the wheel and the ballance will be just fine. most ballance machines will even measure for where the spokes are so the wheights are hidden behind them.

And seeing as how i learned to mount and balance tires in 1994 and it was possible then, it's not anything new. lol the clip on weights are crap anyways. I'd like to try the beads that go inside your tire to balance. no more throwing weights!

Lol well theres a LOT of local tire shops in my area. They've really got to compete with one another on prices so they end up relatively low.

Holy ****. It's got to be geographical location.

Try Walmart lol.
It's F'd up. Here in WNY there isn't muchin in the way of shops for tuners or truck guys. I love it when I head South and you see all sorts of muffler, rim/tire, truck, tuner shops on ever corner. I go to Florida and there's a ton of places to go & they're all priced better than up here. We get screw'd! When i was in the VW scene, I had my dealership do most of the work on it, they gave me smokin deals because me & my friends brought them a ton of business but still not cheap!

I use airsoft BBs, 8 oz per 34x10.50x15 swamper. Balances much better than hanging weights all over,Imo. The shop I used in southwest Missouri was 7 bucks to mount and balance. He charged me 5.00 apiece to mount since he didn't balance. In Colorado we just mount'em ourselves and pour in the BBs. LOL Works great.

Thats what I use too, airsoft bbs to balance the tires. Mount and balance all my own tires like that, works great, and no chance of throwing weights off. Cheap too, just buy some bbs, and it takes less time for me to mount them myself than the drive to and from the tire shop.

I break the bead with my Hi Lift, and use tire spoons to pop the tires off and on. Been doing it that way for years, you get quick at it after youve done it enough.

I use this chart to tell how much weight goes in all the tires I balance.
