Default Exhaust Mount

My exhaust mount on my 96 XJ completely rusted away. Will have to get a whole new exhaust eventually, but for now what can you guys suggest to stop the rattling? I know there is a type of hanging band mount. Should I try that?

At a local muffler shop I had everything replaced from the cat back exhaust pipes, muffler, hangers all for under $100. It fit perfect and was high and tight.

obviously not a permanent fix. enough to get it to a shop to get something welded on. Zip ties wont melt on the exhaust if you make sure to place something between it and the exhaust

Try to make that soon, if the hanger is rusted away then the rest of the exhaust may no be far behind. If you're in a pinch, one of those universal hangers will work; but be aware that most will be holding the exhaust at an odd angle and if rust is already an issue it will just expedite the process of stuff falling apart.
Even if you can't afford a full exhaust I reccomend getting a new hanger welded on (if there is a spot left to weld to), muffler shops have boxes of them and one shouldn't be more than a few bucks to get welded on.

Wire cloths hanger works too to just tie it to something.

Less than 20 bucks for an exhaust u-bolt and this universal hanger from Autozone.... not sure if you have a hitch or not, but if you don't you can just bolt the strap to the stock hanger holes.

Thanks for all the ideas! I'll save up some money and check at my local muffler shop because I do need a whole new exhaust, any suggestions on what exhaust I should put on?

I am on a limited budget as well so relatively cheap, no more than $200, but still good quality. Dynomax maybe?
