I completely understand the point, what I was surprised about was I did see that cat elsewhere for over $100 so at $72 it seemed like a solid deal to me. Later.

I have a Magnaflow cat. I like it, but it was installed behind a stroker in conjunction with a Banks header and a Gibson cat-back. You can get a Thunderbolt spun cat from Performance Curve for around $50 that will do the same thing, just not bolt-in. It really won't make any difference from stock unless you're into a more serious level of power mods.

Also, count me among the ones who dislike the Flowmasters. To me they make a 4.0L sound like a giant lawnmower. Even if you play with other components to get rid of the buzz or drone, they still have a cheap tinny trailer park sound to them that offends my aesthetic.

I went with Gibson because it has a deep rumble that isn't loud and doesn't drone at any RPM, but you immediately know isn't stock. Banks and Borla also have a good sound. The difference is that you're looking at less than $100 for a Flowmaster lawnmower muffler, whereas you're looking at $300 or more for a cat-back that actually sounds decent. You have to decide whether you're willing to pay for quality or settle for the trailer park sound.

Good inputs. Was originally going to go no cat but I'm going to look at some high flow ones and see what I can find. Might look into different mufflers too
