ughhh sounds sketchy I may just do a t-case drop and some shims(see how that goes) and save until I can buy a sye and driveshaft.
How much should I drop the t-case?

First I guess we should ask....which tcase do you have? If you have a 242, then HnT is the only option. I did one on mine. It was one of the first things I did on my Jeep, and I had minimal experience with that kinda stuff. Actually was the first time I used an angle grinder and the first time I ever used a tap. It's not hard and as long as you take your time and pay attention, then it is not a big deal.
I would like to say though, I did mine with the tranny in reverse, not drive.

I asked Rusty's bout this when I called to order my Tcase drop. They said the problem with the motor mounts occurs when you have a older jeep with high miles and the mounts are already pretty worn out. The drop aggravates the already worn mounts. If you think bout it dropping the t-case an inch only changes the motor angle a degree or two, its gonna more more than the front just driving around. I would think the Tcase mount would be the same. It does count down on clearance, if that a real concern you could opt for the tcase cross member drop, still cheaper than a SYE.

This was my old XJ with RE 5.5" lift w/ 33" tires. I installed a RE Hack n Tap with a new driveshaft and it ran PERFECT! No vibes at all! I had shims and a dropped pitman arm as well. I am no mechanic and I installed the HNT by myself and just using the directions. It was very easy. No special tools except for a grinder and a tap. The Tapping part was my only worry because if you mess that up......well it's no good haha. Everything went smoothly and the truck ran smooth....no vibes.
The HNT is also very strong. I wheeled with it on occasion and was 100%. Never had a problem.

Did you rub with those 33s? Stock gears? If so how was it driving?
Why would you sell such a nice xj?

I rubbed a little. As you can see in the pic I cut the front bumper a little. The tires rubbed occasionally on the lower control arms. Otherwise I really didn't have a problem. Granted, I did not offroad too much so I can only speak for a DD/occasional offroader.
Stock gears. Ran fine and still had good pickup. Driving was a dream!
Not one vibe... ever!
Secret......shims, drop pitman arm, trackbar relocation bracket (came w/ RE 5.5"XD kit), RE HnT, and RE CV Driveshaft. Was a little bouncy though and some stuff squeaked, but it was a small price to pay. The RE Quick D's sucked though!! They popped and made a racket all the time!
I sold because I was in college and had to start commuting 1 hour each way a few times a week. I couldn't keep up with paying for gas (poor college student) and any maintenance that would soon be occuring. Oh, well gotta do what ya gotta do.
Now im back with an XJ and going to lift her again but not as high.
Please feel free to ask any question that I could help you with!

Well since RE is out I am not really sure which kit. I will have to do some research. Skyjacker only has 3" lift. I was looking to go atleast 3.5". Possibly even a 4-4.5. Maybe Rough Country? I really don't know.
Any suggestions?
RE had such good quality stuff.....shame
