I have a 90 with no flares, the front tires ride about 6 inches outside the wheelwell, everything ends up on the hood and windsheild while driving, mud, rocks, gravel, sand, etc., etc. I prefer my two jeeps with flares to catch some of the chunks, lol.

I was going to take them off then my parents made a good point. It protects the car (a little not much) from getting dinged in parking lots.

it als help protect your windsheid and outside mirrors, on my 90 with them off both outside mirrors have taken rocks to the glass from the rear tires and the front ones pick up and fling rocks to the front and up so they fall back into the hood lights grill and windsheild, it will be getting some new used ones back on it soon or aftermarket if that fails. I don't mind some mud on the old jeep but this is rediculous, one good mudpuddle and I gotta stop and scrape the windsheils free of chunks and then run the washer tank half empty to see where I am going. those 31 inch 10.5's throw so mud!

I think without looks better. But I prefer to have the protection. And it is illegal here to have tires, sticking outside the wheel wells. So I would end up either relocating the stock flairs, or Bushwhacker's new flat flairs. JMO!

Thanks for the replies. You all made good points and I have decided to keep mine. I painted them Satin Black last night. My XJ is a dark gray Limited and it looks good with the Black flares. I am going up to the hills this morning with my sons to do a little shooting and will get some pics of the XJ while up there.

I see that the lattice style rims are painted black. Now you should take a buffer, and some rubbing compound. And buff the top surface to a nice shine. The black in between the lattice will remain. They actually look nice buffed out, On the dark Grey. This summer I was going to buff mine. Attachment 37616

Well I would say get rid of stock and go aftermarket. I have stock and love the look but I lost both passenger flares and debating about the same thing you are. I want bushwacker low profiles. Also everything does end up on your car without them they make a big difference and some areas I think it's illegal not to have them on

not to mention..try hanging your arm out the window while driving. I have done this several times and since my front drivers side is missing, it flings road debris up and hits your arm...very painful.

I have modified stock flares, but there's no option on the poll for that.

When I bought mine the fenders were already cut, but I prefer it this way.
