Ive done it, With my prior setup. And look at my picture in my post above, I currently only have a 4.5in setup now and look at the amount of droop My rear axle has using a stock leaf pack with a IRO aal, another stock XJ main leaf cut under my stock main for added support. RC Shackle relocation kit, and 1.5in shackle for lots of swing

With out the aal it sits about 3-3.5in with my same setup

X2. Using a longer shackle and bracket works Better than just slabbing on tons of leaves.

Ok I agree, but most people buy a kit ie full packs or aal and don't have the expertise on longer shackles, relocaters etc

Isn't it true you get better feel as a DD with the shackles over a full lead pack

Flatter leaf packs and a long shackle at a 30-45 degree angle do a real nice job of getting nice droop

Now just playing devils advocate here but how's it work out with the life of the spring pack? I.e. does it wear faster this way? And what if I did this with my stock saggy springs? I wanna do a 3" lift in the future so what would be better for rear droop either new 3" springs with shackle relocators or a 2" aal and a long shackle?

Nah, you ain't. Think of it this way. More leafs will
Stop them from bending into a nice droop. You do have a nice setup on your xj, he was just saying with more droop your rear wheels would have gripped the ground better.

Flexing often and with a lot of articulation will shorten the leaf springs life.

For flex , 3" springs with longer shackles, and relocation brackets should droop nicely

The aal will make for a stiffer pack, and without a relocation box the longer shackle wont help as much

I concur. And right now, with a saggy stock leaf set-up shored up by a RC add-a-leaf (its real flexy), i think i could bring this thing to fruition in an effective manner.

Tell me how to do it. I wanna get droopy with it.

Relocators imo, it also gives you adjustments on Shackle angle

Thanks. The full springs was the plan in the first place and then I read this and wanted to clear it up. My head turned into pretzel lol.
