curious to ask you guys, dont know what it can affect but without brackets or enclosure, would there be any distortion/damage to a speaker if I let the magnet just hold it to the floor underneath the front seats? read that somewhere while searching but never got a conclusion if that worked or did anything bad

Honestly I did it a little ghetto because the speaker is way to big for the location, but it works and isn't really noticeable once the panel is installed.
I took the panel out and used bailing wire to hold them in place. a few holes were already there, but I had to drill 2 or 3 holes. I can take a pic of the bottom edge to show you where the wire is if you'd like.
I was in a hurry or else I would have made some brackets to hold them behind the panel under the dash.

Sorry about being so late to this. But I have these.
I took my front seats out and put the bracket through the wire mesh on the bottom of the seat, spliced new wire in for the distance, they sound pretty good and will work great for going doorless. They also dont take up any space unless you put stuff under your front seats.

That's where mine are. No pics, but it works relatively well. They tuck up in there nice.

My 91 Laredo had the little speakers under the dash and I spent a fair bit of time trying to get some larger speakers in there but couldn't make anything work right. You have to cut the steel support for the dash and even then its really crowded.
I ended up just putting some 4x6 speakers in the kick panels. They sound good when the doors are on. They don't sound that great alone, when the doors are off, but they are functional enough.
It was some work getting those together as well, especially the driver's side with all the wiring bundles in there for the driver's door and studs for the hood release cable and whatnot.
