Front tire now 10'' in and 10'' back
Hello all. First timer Gary here. I was T-Boned in my 98 Grand Cherokee. I'm not familiar w/frames & steering...yet. The guy hit me from the right and just square into rt. front tire. Both rt.control arms are ripped and twisted. Obvious replace them. Going as cheap as I can any Do's or Don'ts I would love to know. Mostly street(99%) driving.Besides fender, shock, strut, windshield it looks like I may have gotten away with one.... I don't have that kinda luck. The passenger side of axle has shifted back(towards rear) but looks straight/unbroken. Any similar experience? tks

Without detailed pictures or a much better description it's going to be tough to help you.
I'm willing to bet there's more damage than you think there is with that kind of hit.
Post some pictures and we'll go from there.
Also, you might get a much warmer response if you post this in the correct forum. This isn't fabrication.

I don't want to sound like an *** but major frame or unibody and suspension work is not cheap in any way.
First thing you need to do is have the vehicle evaluated to see if and how much damage is done to the unibody and if it can be fixed. You need to get the bones in good shape before dumping money in to replacement parts.

You're going to need to fabricate a replacement Jeep using Craigslist and that check the insurance co issues you, assuming you aren't at fault...

is insurance going to cover any of this? you need to have it evaluated by his insurance company and see how quickly they total it out. pocket the cash and go get another car or cherokee. unless you have access to some fabrication tools and know how to make these kinds of repairs, it's a lost cause.

Don't give up on your jeep yet, she's a strait axle beast and has a chance to live another day with the right amount of fabrication.
This was me on September 27th
I hit a fire hydrant going 35mph and caught it at the passenger side wheel
The next day my axle came out and I found out what needed to be replaced
Both upper control arms
All ca mounts where either twisted or broken off
Steel wheel
Shock absorber
Yoke + pinion seal
Now this was about a week after getting laid off with no unemployment pay because I was in high school the majority of the 3 years I worked at this place and according to the gov that means no money for me.
So I could not afford to buy a new lp dana 30 and bearing and shim kit because I have 4.88s and they would need to be swapped over so I spent the little money I had on new parts and got fabbing on the axle
I already had a spare hp dana 30 so I borrowed all of its ca mounts and reinforced my axle
Then on October 29th almost 1 month from the accident she went back up in my jeep and the longest month of my life was over
, you don't realize how much you love your jeep till it gets taken away from you. But you gotta want it and all it takes is a little fabrication and some wrench turning.
