Basically the brackets fit fine after elongating one of the bolt holes by about 1/16".

It seemed like he really wanted to move on these - hope he's just busy and otherwise OK...
Rambler, thanks for the check up! In case you see this first, I sent you a PM as well and appreciate your concern!

So in short, I have been away for a while because wife and I fell deathly ill and were out for the count for a few weeks barely functioning at work. Then we had to play catch up with our to-do list!

So now we are about to head out of state for a week or so, but Rambler's contributions to my design in the form of fitment adjustments for the 8.25 have proven absolutely invaluable and I am extremely grateful for his assistance. When we return to good ol' Virginny, I plan to make a batch of these brackets and begin to offer them for sale. Because of shipping charges (smallest flat rate seems to be the best option) it looks like $30 shipped per set is going to be the magic number. If I can manage to find less expensive stainless hardware, that price will hopefully shift down to $25 shipped for the brackets and all necessary hardware.

You should consider maybe going with steel angle iron or some plastic washers to avoid the dissimilar metals wearing off the paint and corroding. Just a thought, really like this idea GLWS!

Only thing I don't like about the angle iron is the rust factor. But I get the dissimilar metal corrosion. I might have to revisit this. Still reaccimilating from the beach... God I miss it!
