A kid I used to work with was selling this XJ. Was asking $5000, i took it home for $2500. 1998 131k 4.0 5spd. No warning lights, and just passed emissions.Got a bunch of free parts like new breaks all around, brand new full size spare and bushwacker flares still new in the box. Entire lift is under a year old and the body has no rust(maybe not a big deal for some, but its super rare up here in Cleveland) I don't think I did too bad... What do y'all think?

'89 base Cherokee, 201,000.
Good: No rust, straight body, good running 4.0 (just needed a few tweeks), 5-speed, good 30" x 9.5" tires.
Bad: Peeling clear coat, broken windshield, ripped drivers seat, bad hatch lifts, no dash facia, no radio, heater blower not working (it was easily fixed), BA-10 trans (still shifts smooth and makes no noise), bad shocks.
I wish I had taken a picture: $700

paid $800 for my XJ...87 with 240k. body had no rust but the manifold gasket was completely shot and would barely run. fixed that and gave her a tuneup and she ran great. came with the bumpers and roof rack too. decent price for out here I think.
paid $1900 for the ZJ, body is a 9.5/10 and the interior is a 9.9/10, the inside seriously looks brand new.

97 Country, 181,000 miles. No rust, some primer showing on hood, but incredibly straight body and the power everything works on top of the interior being an 8/10. The rest of the paint is good. Runs and drives better than anything I drove in 2+ years.
Paid $2300.

Here is my list, all are from the last 18 months, except the XJ was purchased 4 years ago and sold this last year. - oh and the CJ7 was about 3 years ago
In order of latest to oldest,
#1 - 1999 Grand Cherokee Limited 4x4 4.0 146K - Needed Transmission, and had a big dent on rear passenger side - currently debating if I am going with an IRO 6" LA or getting rid of it - not been digg'n my WJ's - PAID $800 - Purchased NP242 Transfercase with working Transmission for $200 - got it on the road for $1100 Total with repairs
#2 - 2001 Grand Cherokee Larado - 2 Wheel - 4.0 - 147K - (Bought the same day as the one above) Needed Head Gasket - Ended up buying radiator, fan, fan relay, head milled, oil pump, and still needs bearing (Low Oil Pressure) getting a big bite in the *** on this one, Paid $1100, have about $1600 into it now with repairs, if just bearings fix it (not cam bearings) I should be fixed for $1700 Total maybe more if I need to install Cam Bearings - GOING TO SELL THIS ONE - it was going to be a DD
#3 2000 Jeep TJ 4.0 5spd - Dana 30/44 - Paid 3K for it with blown transfer case, come to find out rear ring and pinion was blown too, put $1600 into for 4.56 gears (I did myself) used 4" pro comp lift, used transfercase, and FREEBIE 35" MTR's Tires and Rims from a friend. Trade Winch and Rear Spartan Locker for Main Website redesign for PORC. $4600 Total Sold for $7K
Day I bought it
During all the Work
After all the work
#4 1989 YJ - 4cyl, 5spd, - Paid $1300 - Jeep was mint - no rust new paint job - Owner said he thought the motor was bad from sitting, I bought it with out even trying it, charged the battery, figured it was the starter, hit it with starting fluid and rolled it back and popped the clutch, it started and drove it home - replaced the starter - drove it for 1 year - painted the rims and threw junkyard seats in it and sold it for $3200
Day I bought it;
Before I sold it;
#5 My Black 1997 XJ 4.0 Auto - 3" lift with 30" MTR 158K - paid $2300 - Drove it for 5 years, did only maintenance and a water pump / radiator - sold it with 186K for $2800 - ALSO Pictured above towing my TJ Home.
The ad picture from the day I bought it;
#6 1984 CJ7 6cyl auto - paid $650 - Sold Plow and Hard Top for $611 - $39 Jeep Cost + $100 in repairs $139 TOTAL Scored FREE Softtop - put brake lines in rear - replaced gas and it started and drove it for 18 months - then sold it for $1200 (Quick Sell - floors were rotted - Illinois Jeep)
When I bought it
When I sold it
I say I have done well over the years with my Jeeps- out of the last 12 vehicles I owned I made money on 11 of them - a 1999 Intrepid was the loser - timing chain went and I dumped it - Paid $2800 - Sold $1200 but I did collect THOUSANDS in paid mileage on it from a job I had at the time - onsite computer tech
OUT OF ALL OF THEM - I MISS THE BLACK XJ - IT WAS A GREAT DRIVER - PEPPY AND HANDLED GREAT - AND ALWAYS GOOD TO ME

1 for sure... Can't believe you don't like those tires though, they've handled everything I've thrown at them... take them off now and I'll give you $200 for the set when mine are toast
