Yeah, check out my build thread. You'll get the whole story that led to me pulling the carpet out of mine.

Hah, I check the weather a hell of a lot more than I used to when it's nice enough out to stick the doors in my storage unit.

Haven't gotten around to it, but I want to make some 2 piece soft doors that I can carry with me to throw on when I need to for storms and such. Til then I just keep two tarps with me that are rolled up. If a storm pops up I can just go out to the Jeep and attach them to the luggage bars and roll them down over the door openings to keep the water out.

I don't have carpet though, but it didn't have carpet when I bought it. Keep debating on buying some new black carpet from Team Cherokee, but I don't see me keeping up with it enough for it to be worth the $250 or so it costs.

There's a few write ups on here and NAXJA. Saw a guy who had custom 2 piece soft doors made too that looked great. I'll see if I can't dig up pictures of them.

I've also heard CJ/YJ soft doors fit on XJs just fine, but I've never tried it.

I'd also suggest cutting the roof off. THAT has been my favorite modification to my Jeep.

Did a little digging and they don't line up 100% obviously as far as the shape goes, but apparently they do go on just like they would on a CJ or YJ and are fully functional.

Makes me curious if CJ5 doors would work on the rear doors since they have a similar shape.
