Good Deal?
Hey what's up d00ds. New to the forum, finally registered after creepin around for a while. Anyway, got a question:
http://newyork.craigslist.org/lgi/cto/4132832982.html
How much would you guys pay for that? Barring any sort of major rust, what do you think?
I've done my research and whatnot, I just don't know what to think about the rebuild. Kind of scares me as a potential buyer, then thinking ahead, I can't imagine how annoying it would be to try and sell that.
However, I do kind of like the truck.. thus the post.
Help a bro out, thanks!

At five large it should have no rust anywhere . The engine looks kind of dirty for a fairly fresh rebuild. Look at it and make an offer. Five grand is a little high though.

You know what I can't understand is how many rebuilt 4.0s are out there on craigslist... WTF
People not know how to check or change their oil?????? this one doesn't even have the head excuse....

Ditto... if you can reach up behind the carpet on both driver/passenger side and check for rust from the inside out too on the floor boards.... you should be able to feel it... or have the guy lift it up before u go there.
We don't have the rust issues in NW as bad as many of you out east and in the midwest do underneath... however it's common to get it under the carpet since it never gets a chance to dry...

The later years of the 4.0 had issues with the piston skirts cracking and cylinder heads cracking, plus some people think new paint on the valve cover equals a rebuilt engine.

If its rust free and runs and drives good 3500 to 4k is a good ball park price for that jeep. And the dirty engine bay makes me think the rebuilt engine might be a lie,Unless he has proof like papers showing where it was rebuilt and all that.
