Default Got My XJ Today!

Today I got my first vehicle, a 89 Cherokee 4.0, AW4, lifted 4" in rear and 3" in front 204,969 miles. Paid 1200 for it, the guy wanted 1800 at first... It has a bend in front fender and almost bald tires; a few quirks to it, but Im sure I will get them figured out. Interior is nice and clean, except for the usual dirt. Has a Sony cd player and Pioneer speakers. When we got it it knocked like hell, sounded like a worn cam or bad lifter. Got it home and checked the oil (its a good think I only live 1/4 mile away) it was close to 2 qts low and black with pieces of sludge. Guess what? It stopped knocking after I topped off the oil... it doesnt like to start though, takes three hard cranks to get it going, drives good and im gonna check for vaccum leaks in the morning because it revs to like 2500 rpm on first startup for a few seconds...
Heres some pictures, I will get more tomorrow..
The jeep

Next to my Girlfriends 96

Another angle of it next to the 96 Sport...

Thanks for looking, any (nice) comments are appreciated...

That's a clean looking XJ. Now let's get some big mud tires on it and get her dirty.

That allows more time for you to learn about it and make decisions as to what you want to do to it.

Is that black XJ running stock height? It looks really good sitting quite low but with the wider tires/wheels and is making me rethink the need for a lift as i'm unlikley to do any serious off roading.

Yea... I was just in Zeeland yesterday. I need to get over to D&R Driveline for a little driveshaft work soon.
Therew are trails near me. The gravel pits down by the grand river are nice to go to.
We'll have to do Silver Lake one of these days!
Send me a PM if you need a hand also.
Mike

Nice! Looks clean!

Do you guys think running seafoam in the crank case is a good way to get rid of that sludge? Then an oil change. Should be pretty clean after that.
