160K oxidized rims, mismatched paint for $4700?
Pass
You can find better deals out there with a little patience. Chances are you won't find it at a dealer either.
My 97 with 128K on it was $2200 in good condition other than 1 rust spot.
BTW: 235/75/15's are a 29" tire.

Also, if I wanted to do a 4-6 inch (zone of rough country) lift, would I have to buy a new driveshaft or sye or tcase drop... I've been reading about Wranglers a lot, but I want a ballpark price I'll be looking at if I wanted to do that. Thanks!
Also, any word on how to get the dog smell out?

you can many things here: http://www.ironrockoffroad.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc
these are some of the best kits you can buy... never heard bad things about them and i can tell you they are 10x better than rough country.(they also sell rough country parts too like shocks and whatnot though) and they have t case drops, regular sye, tom woods drive shafts, or the h+t sye with driveshaft for 199$ which is a great deal

you could prolly get away with just a tcase drop with a 4" but you will want a SYE. IRO sells a hack and tap SYE with driveshaft for 199$. also used black ice air freshners... lol. and in my opinion, you'll find xj's you like, but youll know when it's right. there's so many out there. im on my second xj because I was too excited and bought the first one i liked... my new one is a 99 sport. 100% no rust at all! 162k(nothing for a 4.0) and interior is like brand new. all for $2300. the deals are out there, just stay away from dealerships.... and as far as the lift goes, unless you go long arm, dont go higher than 4" on the lift because the control arm angle's will make your daily driver ride like total s***! and stay away from add a leaf and blocks... hope i could help.
But back on topic, how is it holding up now? Because the one I'm looking at has about the same mileage and my dad keeps on telling me I gotta be careful. He thinks I'm crazy cause I want to sell a very nice, very safe, low mileage 07 Envoy for a 98-01 Cherokee which aren't known to be particularly safe, but I really want a nice SUV DD and weekend warrior in one. I plan on keeping it through college and for years after hopefully, so I want to make sure the mileage isn't a problem. My dad is acting like he doesn't care what I do because he will be making money by selling the Envoy, so I'm kinda worried, but I know that once I get out of Virginia, I'll be thankful I have 4WD, not only for trails, but for DD on snowy roads, etc. If the Envoy was a 4WD, I would probably keep it... but yeah.
We're hopefully going to look at it again once my dad gets off work. How easy is it to fix dents?
Edit: Also, before I forget, I really am curious as to why Classics are considered "better" than the other trims... what do the different trims have?

I wouldn't pay more than $3,500 for that. I bet he bought it for $2,000. You CAN find a nicer XJ out there for what he's asking - mine, for example, was in better condition than that with less miles when I bought it, AND it was cheaper.
It might not seem like a good idea to pass, but think about this, the Cherokee was always extremely popular, so there are TONS of them out there.

It is difficult to find a cherokee in nice condition for less than $5k. If the body is straight and not rusty at all, and it runs good and the interior is in nice shape, I think $5k would be worth it, unless it had over 200k miles on it. That engine bay is squeaky clean as well.
I paid $5k for mine with less than 100k on it and a 5sp in superior condition 5 or 6 years ago when they were all going for 8 or 9k with more miles and worse shape. If you're not in a rush, keep waiting. I prefer to buy from a private party, the cars are cheaper and they are usually less cheesy than a dealer.
