Default Headliner

My question is whether or not the fabric I found will work for a new headliner. I found it online and think it would look really cool in the jeep. My worry is that the material might be to thin and wont cooperate well with the glue when going on to the headliner. I'm hoping somebody who has done this before can recommend a certain glue to make this work or simply tell me if this material will work or not.

Here is a link to the fabric I found:

Thanks for the help!

I am going to be doing my headliner soon also. I have been doing the same thing you are before I jump. I went to JoAnnes Fabrics to see about patterns and diff. fabrics to get an idea of cost and options. (I would buy some small splotches to experiment with). They say you can do the liner with most fabrics.

I am going with just normal headliner since it ends up costing less and while certainly work. Plus my wife would rather I keep it stock looking (which I tend to agree) but I am going to use a wild life pattern (hunter cameo) when I build my camper out of an XJ.

I had mine replaced at a shop with OEM fabric for just over a $120 for everything.

Make sure you scrap the old foam (if its deteriating) off or it will fall apart again

I'm sure it can be done but I might be missing something here. When I did my headliner I used actual headliner material that included standard grey fabric and a foam backing. The foam backing was thick enough so that the glue didn't leak through and show up on the front side. Some places I got a little glue happy and it leaked through anyways. If you remove the headliner and the backing it will leave you with just the headliner board. Are you going to glue the fabric directly to the board, eliminating the foam? I only ask because if you are doing this I think the glue will leak through the fabric. I could be wrong though because like I said I used actual headliner fabric instead of traditional fabric.

If glue leaked though you may have started putting the fabric to the board before it was ready. Every video on it I have watched they do it like you would when you do laminate onto wood with contact cement. Which you allow the glue to dry to a tackiness and then press it together, but I am sure that you won't have it falling down.
