I was all excited because an ex police XJ was at the Pick n Pull. It had my tan interior with a rear vinyl flooring. I need several panels because the Forest Service had drilled holes in many of them to mount things like a radio, a rear cage, etc. I get there and of the hundreds of cars there this was the only one that was crushed from the top. I looked in and it had everything I needed/wanted, but I couldn't get to them because the roof was crushed. All the interior tan pieces were in excellent condition until they crushed the roof. What a waste, I was heartbroken because 96 tan interiors are so hard to find. For whatever reason the tailgate interior panel was still intact and I managed to save it, but that was it. It also had rear seat belts that looked like new which I needed because the Forest Service took mine out. Guess they didn't want passengers. Anyway, take a look at what I found, before and after.
That is so crazy, they could have made a good chunk of change on that XJ. I know your pain my 96 XJ has the tan interior and I've been searching for years for replacement door arm rest but no luck. I was able to get the tan cloth to replace my over head panel cloth that was deteriorated.
