Default Help Me Price My XJ...

p { margin-bottom: 0.08in; } Well fellas I have to take a hiatus from the Jeep world for a bit. My wife and I have plans to start a family soon. It was time to get a larger more modern vehicle. I bought a 2002 Z71 Tahoe love it so far but the XJ will sorely be missed. I plan to get another Jeep soon and trailer it behind the Tahoe. With the little wheeling I've done I've never been that confident because I had no way to get my XJ home should something break.

My XJ is a '87 4.0/AW4 with a DANA 44. It as a "law enforcement" edition so it came with a transcooler. I've owned it for 3 years and the first 2 years were spent rebuilding/restoring it. The body is straight and the AC works great. I replaced everything in the motor that showed wear. When was everything but the cam and pistons/rings (it uses no oil). I easily get 21mpg hwy.
The tires are ready for replacing, and the rear leaf/shackle bushings are starting to groan and creak. It also needs a headliner.

It also has a JVC head unit, and polk speakers
List of replaced parts:

Suspension/Chassis:

Door weather stripping
Brake pads
YJ front brake hoses
Monroe Shocks
Master cylinder
Tinted Windows

Engine Related:

Goodyear Gator back belt
Murray Water pump
Alternator
Starter
Battery (2 weeks old)
Power steering pressure hose
Oil pump
Main bearings
Rod bearings
Complete head
Timing set
All gaskets and seals

Fuel/Sensor related:

Mustang orange top 19lb injectors
CPS sensor
Throttle Position sensor
Oxygen sensor
Idle Stepper Motor (IAC valve)

Does $2,100 sound fair?

Regardless what you've replaced on it, it is still an 87 model and that kills the resale right there.
The good thing its still stock height etc so it will appeal to a larger audience.
I was say $1000 to very tops $1900.
I know its a large spread, I'm not trying to tick you off.
Look at Craigslist in your area and see what people are asking for a similar XJ.
It will give you a good baseline for your area.

Man! It sounds as if u have it fixed up the way u want it. why get rid of it?

with starting a new family, I'd keep it and save ur money. not telling u whaqt to do but you have invested way more than you may get out of selling it. Don't give it away!!!
congrats on starting a family! I have been blessed with 4 of the best kids in the world!!!

Thanks for the advice. I'm not trying to rip anyone off. I realize I won't get all my money back, and especially not my time. I also bought a $400 parts jeep that I only used a few pats off. Maybe I can go down to $1,800. It may be an '87 model. But its a reliable, practical vehicle with 4wd, air conditioning, decent looks, and pretty good gas mileage.

As far as selling it. I was having a hard time with it. But once I bought the Tahoe I've really fallen in love the new vehicle. I just don't have room for an extra vehicle, and don't want to have to maintain an extra one.

$2100 Sounds like a fair asking price. Hard to get any reasonable 4x4 daily driver for under 2k!

$1800-2500 no problem.... With some different rims it would really shine..
id try ebay, the ones on there seem to be bringing a premium price right now.

Definitely 2k+ for it. It all depends on how quick it needs to be gone. But that baby is clean!

I'm not in a huge hurry to sell it. I'm going to give Craigs list shot. I posted an ad but it was "ghosted."
