First of all buddy, there is no way to "do it right". I did it right, apparently it is illegal, but it is done right. There is no way in hell somebody is going to be so blind from my HIDs that they actually hit me head on. Come on now, lets think about stuff before you say it. Unless its somebody as simple minded as you passing me at night, i'm sure i'll be fine. But thanks for your concern.

If it's illegal, how the hell is it done right, buddy???
Have you personally driven in a smaller car and passed your jeep, with its lights in your face?
Outside of your little world, there are quite a few people who have troubles dealing with nighttime driving and oncoming lights. All it takes is one of them to maybe crash into you... or even worse, swerve off the road and crash by themselves while you just go on your merry way.

That'd be my major concern right there. Blinding someone and causing them to run off the road, or run over a pedestrian, or something like that. What happens when Granny is coming down the road at you? She's already kind of in a panic because its' night time, and all of a sudden, she can't see! Old people have a hard enough time driving when they can see, imagine what happens when they panic? Same goes for new drivers.
Man, just buy the damned projectors and get them aimed correctly. No one on here is going to agree with you that it's acceptable to drive around blinding everyone and being a general menace. Yeah, yeah, **** the police and all that, sticking it to the system! I know, feels good to be a rebel, but man, find some way to do it that's not gonna possibly get other people hurt. If you want to go and do something stupid and get yourself killed, well that's your problem, but leave everyone else out of it.
And no, you didn't "Do it right". Doing it right involves projectors. You did it half-assed.

seriously? the pictures above do make it look like the light is all over and doesnt look good at all, but i ride alot in my buddys zj with HIDs and they arent that bad at all. he has the 8000ks i believe and at 9" of lift and 37" tires, its perfect. no projector housings and i have passed him a couple times at night and it doesnt blind me at all. now those trucks you see that do the HID conversion but have headlights that show light out the sides are the ones that really blind you. an xj's headlight housing is sunk in and the light given off tends to follow more straight forward.
just giving my 2 cents before this thread spirals out of control and gets locked. i am considering doing this to my xj as well but my money is going to be more focused on getting a DD first.

thats why i got 4 hid hellas instead of the halogen ones on the roof because they take a while to heat up and shine bright so im not tempted to turn them on while on road. i can see just fine and even the legal hid light setups on road seem to give me a hard time at seeing the road vs passing a guy with halogen bulbs. and what about when your driving behind someone then its more than a few seconds that your lighting up their cab not allowing them to see

I wish these lights would just be illegal so they can save me the trouble of being blinded at least twice a night because people think they look cool. That and big stupid spoilers that do the exact opposite of what a spoiler is even for.

x2. the only hids i will ever have are on my roof so i use them only in the desert. i wanted brighter lights in my ranger which is now my dd so i got brighter halogen bulbs which make the light just a bit brighter but it doesnt blind the oncoming drivers

Yeah man, don't you think of anyone else?????
At night I actually am blind, literally, can't see ANYTHING.
So when lights shine in my eyes and makes it worst, I do whatever everyone does, close my eyes, step on the accelerator, let go of the wheel, and hum the first Journey song that pops in my head....
C'mon guys, seriously.
There are a lot of ******** on this forum.
p.s. If you're blind, please don't drive, it's that simple.
