HID Conversion.. What do ya think?
#31
There is no way in hell somebody is going to be so blind from my HIDs that they actually hit me head on.

You do know the meaning of half assed right? That would mean the install was done WRONG. You sound like an idiot. The install was done perfect, i just didn't use freaken projectors, that does not make it wrong. Maybe illegal, but not wrong. As aircruiser stated, an xj's headlight housing is sunk in and the light given off tends to follow more straight forward, these really are not blinding at all. But i give up, i'll go turn myself in tomorrow on first degree murder charges from my headlights killing so many people.
Could you put this in writing for me? and sign it?
I was thinking of going to rob a few banks. When I get caught and thrown to the ground, I can explain to them that it's indeed illegal, but there really isn't anything wrong with it and they should let me go...and then show them that this very well educated Jeep owner said so himself, and it must be true.
On a side note..
halfˇ-assed (haf′ast′)
adjective
SLANG having or showing little thought, care, or foresight; Not well planned or executed.
Sounds pretty dead on to me.

Put it in writing and sign it? What the hell? Yeah i totally said robbing a bank isn't wrong... You make no sense. Please explain to me Mr. goalieman how my HID install showed little thought, care, or foresight; or was not well planned or executed... Say what you want, but half assed was the wrong phrase to use. Please keep your idiotic comments out of this thread.

Since I feel I need to respond to this insult, "You, my good sir, sound immature." I mean, seriously, I sound stupid? Let's read on a little further, then.
Your argument is not logical. You say that you did the install correctly, but you didn't put it in projectors. I'm sorry to say that you didn't do it correctly. Oh, you plugged in the connectors correctly, that's true. But you did not correctly install HID headlights. You did not research what would need to be done for a proper install, which demonstrates a lack of foresight and poor planning as well. Execution of the actual bulb/ballast installation may be OK, but overall execution is lacking due to the initial lack of planning and knowledge of what would actually be required leading to missing components.
As an example, by your argument installing roller rockers on a Cherokee but not putting on a new valve cover gasket is not wrong. True, the roller rockers are installed, but your valve cover is gonna leak like crazy. One could even say it was done 'half-assed'.
Let me go on to say this: We are not attacking you. We are trying to help you, both avoid an expensive ticket and possibly avoid having someone get injured on your conscience. However you immediately went on the defensive and started becoming combative, things escalated from there. I find this slightly humorous since you did title this thread, "HID Conversion... What do you think?". If you didn't want to know what we thought, you shouldn't have asked.

Yes i am aware they are illegal, but i will continue to rock them until i get pulled over. Then I'll switch to the projector housing. $290 of HID win? Haha sounds like a loss to me. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1995-...Q5fAccessories
I could have done the same for $65. The ones you have are probably a little better quality, but thats a big chunk of change for the small difference it may make.

Let me explain...
You said that installing them without projectors was "maybe illegal, but not wrong."
Robbing a bank is also illegal... but using your brilliant theory, I was able to come to the conclusion that it must not be wrong, and therefore is acceptable to do.
Get it?

this is my set up that i did ( $290 of hid win ) yes they are low beams.. but its 8345676577 % better then stock lights.. i think with the projectors and hid fogs = BOSS.. ive had these sines feb. snow, dark nights, mud, rain, ponds... they been good to me. sines you have hids already you can just buy projectors and stick YOUR hids in them... save some money.. ( thanks codexj for the link )

resurrecting some old news. here's a question that i have for headlight and brightness experts. can i just buy some 7x6 S10 headlight housing and use a regular bulb like 9003? or will this not be bright enough? because, some of the projectors that i checked on ebay, said that you can't use low and high beams. i've been meaning to upgrade my headlights but, not at the expense of others. i read up on this thread, but the subject changed to bashing pretty quick.
so, how have you done it without spending a small fortune.
do forgive my idiocracy, but if your best comment is for me to do a 20 hour research, just save us both some nerves.

You may be able to do that.
The reason you won't have high/low both on a HID setup is that, typically, the bulb only has one setting. DDM Tuning has a few Hi/Lo HID kits (ballast and bulb) in the H4 and 9007 type, but I'm not sure if this is done with 2 bulbs or if they have some sort of wierd staged bulb. I haven't called them to find out, yet.
If the DDM tuning kit somehow does hi/lo in one bulb, then as long as the projector housing fits the H4 or 9007 type it should work.
