Not many out there willing to drop that kind of coin on a diff cover. I might, but not on my current setup...which is the dilemma here, Joe Blow ain't gonna drop that kind of coin on a diff cover
no but if i were to ever build a 14 bolt, i would do the TMR 15 bolt shave. that's the kit that i uploaded the pic of. they do everything from d30 to d70, 8.8 and 14/15 as well as sterling.
to the op, i would just give it a try. see what you can make of it. at least you can then have bragging rights that you made your own.
TMR probably makes the toughest diff cover on the market, hands down and even they don't put in a drain plug. reason being, is as mentioned, you want to inspect the gears when you change your fluid. also, if you just drain through a plug, you won't get everything that's in there. even when using brake cleaner, so pulling the cover is a must.
TMR covers start at around 250 bux canadian.
With my drain plugs it is very easy to remove all the fluid, what little is left. By using a small vacuum tube rubber bulb and it goes through the cheese cloth also looking for metal..
I do pull my covers several times a year for inspection but was something I hated doing all the time for conditions I run in. This is so much easier and quick makes the job only take 10 min or so start to finish.
Their welding process is fairly simple. I'm in process of building my front bumper now, so I'll tackle the diff cover probably middle of next month or so.
