homemade tcase drop, got a couple questions.
Well im gonna put a tcase drop in, instead of buying one i was think just to make one to save the waiting time for shipping. what is the best material to make them out of, can I just use square steel tubing? What should be the proper dimensions of the tubing, I also need to know the measurements of the new longer bolts i will need, one other thing. I only have a 3" lift so do you think if i did a 1/2" drop it would work, or should i do a full 1"

Just get the crossmember from a 5 speed cherokee. It gives you a 3/4 inch tcase drop from your automatic crossmember. Go by a junk yard and get it, then you wont need new bolts either

i "had" a 3 inch lift (now 4.5) and I put a 1 inch drop in. all i did was get some 1 inch tubing cut it to the length of the transfer case crossmember drilled some holes and wammed it in. just take the old bolts out and whatever they are add an inch. you might have some fun getting the bolts out ...... i know i did
two came out easy other two i had to put two nuts on, heat them up and back them out

Hey, new to this forum, first post.... I had some vibes after a 3 inch rustys lift, went and bought some 1 inch square tubing (make sure its 1/8 or thicker, I made the mistake of 1/16), 6 inches each side, and some 10mm 1.5 pitch 2 inch long bolts and your all set. Measure and drill, then install. No more vibes at all!

There is not much stress from the tranny at all in that area. The most stress would come from serious offroading.
So almost anything would work. I ran a flat belly made out of c channel. It actually raised my drive train a half inch. I run 4.5" of lift in the rear. Yes I get some minor vibes angled the diff and that helped a lot. Been a year now still have not had to replace a shaft joint. Transfer case is great also.
I will pit up with minor vibes. But not with ground clearance loss.

I made my 1" TC drop out of some 188 wall 1x2" box tube. I backed the 2 studs out went to oreillys and bought 4 longer bolts .
Im taking it off tomorrow got a SYE and a stock front shaft.
