Hood scoop
okay, so its starting to get pretty hot out now and the other day waiting at a red light my temp gauge started to climb a bit. I was wondering what you guys think of putting a hood scoop on the jeep. I want to bring in cold air to help cool and also for the air intake for better mpgs. and my hood is scratched to hell so it would help in hiding that lol. I was thinking of one of these scoops :
http://www.ebay.com/itm/2004-2006-Dodge-Ram-1500-Pickup-SRT10-Large-Smooth-Single-Hood-Scoop-Hoodscoop-/400474161428?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item5d3e1ec114&vxp=mtr
i think it could come out pretty cool if i do it clean, which i plan on doing.
theres also this type :
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Summit-Hood-Scoop-Cowl-Induction-33-Long-21-38-Wide-2-Tall-ABS-Plastic-Black-/390575400930?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&vxp=mtr&hash=item5af01ba7e2
I wanna here your guys input. if its a good idea or if i should just kill it now. also, if anyone has pictures i would appreciate that. thanks!

I would just do the Lebaron hood vents if it was me, cheap at a junkyard and look pretty good.
But that cowl would be pretty sweet if you could get it to come out right.

A forward facing scoop won't do any good to cool the engine bay. Or get air to the intake due to the position of filter inlet.
You'll be better off with 2 small scoops with the opening facing the windshield.
I got these for 25.00 for the pair off eBay. My XJ never went above 195* while wheeling all weekend in Moab when I was on the trails for 6-7hrs a day.

No drip pans under then the mesh is setback about an inch from the opening. I can wash the jeep spraying the scoops and they don't get water under the hood I tested for like 5 minutes.

That was kinda what I was planning on doing. I travel highway everyday pretty much so I think it would help. I don't want it coming out ricer-ish tho.

Is it this one by chance? http://www.ebay.com/itm/Car-Decorative-Air-Flow-Intake-hood-Scoop-Vent-Bonnet-Cover-Black-Universal-/271199158054?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item3f24babf26&vxp=mtrThis one looks similar, but the tape for application kind of scares me.

I drilled a bunch of holes and taped them on. I believe I have pics of the bottom side in my build thread. I am planning on using a cut off wheel to cut out the area I drilled holes on.
