Width does as well. But at 33" he's going to need at least an 8" wide rim and that with the proper backspacing will give him the wide stance he's looking for.

I agree. 10" wide wheels are for going to the mall.

yes it will. when i bought my rims and tires from Tirerack, i innitially wanted the rims i have in 8". but TR wouldn't mount 33x12.5's on a 8" rim.

after comparing the cost of mounting and ballancing it was cheaper to get the 10" rim instead. besides a 12.5 looks nicer on a 10" than an 8" imo.
so i was happy.

i don't wheel.... but from what i have read 10" is not really good offroad. not sure why. i would think that the bead would roll off an 8" faster than a 10". it wasn't an issue for me though.
but it is something the OP should concider when choosing his rim width.

A 10" wide wheel will lose a bead faster because it's wider and doesn't put near as much pressure on the sidewalls of the tire.

I think that makes sense.

I run 35x12.50's on 15x8s.

15x10 reverse bead wheels have never debeaded and had my 33x12.50 down around 6psi. but will be going to a 15x8 or 16x8 bead lock when the full widths go on

I was about to say this also.

Yes the wheels will be two inches wider, but all that wideness isn't being directed outward.
