This has been my project for a while and I'm trying to see what you think its worth. I know what the blue book is but was curious if you thought I should try to get more out of it?

Around here, MAYBE 3500. The rebuilt helps you out as does the slight modifications. I often see them go on CL for 2000 with no mods and 150,000 on the motor. I have bought 2 stock ones here for 1000 though. I suppose you might get a tiny bit more during the winter. There are just a lot of them around and most people prefer Subarus.

It really depends on where you are/season etc. 4x4s jump like a grand here from October-April. Go on CL and see what other ones are going for in your area.

I looked a lot of those $2,000 XJ's last year and they're trashed needing everything. People tend to drive them until they need more work then they're worth, so the sell them for 2k and you have to put another 2k into it to get a decent vehicle (at least my opinion of what a decent vehicle is)

IMO, I think it should bring around 5k maybe more to the right buyer? That's a nice Jeep you have there. I bet the interior cost over $1,500, it looks great.

Yeah I'm thinkin you could get at least $3500. Seems in my area most '97+ xj's in good condition not ragged out with 120k miles or less go for at least $5k

Said he spent $30,000 on it in the last 6000 mi. But it still needs outer tie rod ends and fuel pump. What do you think the $30 grand was spent on? crack?

To the OP I would advertise at least $5k and see what happens. Maybe more if your not trying to get rid of it quick. I sold a Chevy truck once just because I wanted something new, I advertised for what I wanted to get for it not what it blue booked for. It was for sale for quite awhile but finally somebody came along who just had to have it. And I got what I wanted...enough to pay off a loan and buy my current xj
