just tell your wife that any of the new $40,000 rigs these days wont do half of what yours will. plus imagine what it would be if it was a new one. all the extras you have now on the new one what the cost would be then.

$500 to start with 107,xxx on the clock, $450 to replace the head gasket and some other parts to get her running right, $448 for wheels, $100 worth of stuff to make her look perty , $110 for a new full console to replace the mini (which i now know was too much), and $110 dollars on all the stuff from the pull-a-part. so around $1700

$2000 Currie 9" with ARB (you could do this a lot cheaper in a junkyard, but hey - it isn't YOUR money)
$250 Waggy D44
$500 or so for all the bracketry and such for that D44
$2000 Clayton longarm kit, 6.5"
$800 Detours offroad rear bumper w/tire carrier
$800 for four custom driveshafts (CV and non-CV fronts, main and spare rear CV shafts)
$250 or so for AJsoffroad sliders
$850 Warn winch
$1350 New KM2's and alloy wheels
$1200 5 BFG Krawlers for the trail.
$200 front winch bumper ebay style
$1300 ish axle shafts for all corners, using stockers for spares

Almost 22K over the last 4 years. I spent a lot of it a while back, so I have been just enjoying it and spending very little on it for a couple years until my recent tire splurge for the KM2s.

Any newbies just getting started...don't worry. You can spend a lot less than this
what wheels are those?

I paid 700 for it with 200k miles, recently rebuilt. Then paid about 500 in parts to redo the front end.. It was very loose when I bought it.. 600 for the Rusty's 3" spring pack lift. And 80 for the radio =P. So a total of about 1900 not including misc maintenance and what not.

Got Jeep for $3000
Rusty's 4.5" lift $700
Rusty's UCA $130
Fox shocks $ 800
JKS bar pin Eliminators $100
Rusty's HD track bar $200
Rusty's steering conversion $300
Crager Rims $200 (I think)
BFG M/T KMII $1200
MSD w. wires $350
Edelbrock header $400
Exhaust $450 (I think)
Optima battery $180
Locker $500
Head Unit (stereo) $300
Rebuilt front axle $1200
SYE and drive shafts $500
Lights $100
stupidity $200
So about $11K. Sadly. I'm no where close to my ideal set up. Still have long arm, armor/recovery, interior, finish stereo, axles, front locker, stroker kit, and on board air to go. I'm guessing another 12K.

3.5" skyjacker springs and shocks $100
YJ Leafs for bastard pack-Free
8.8 4:10's -$150
Sliders and skids $50

This is my new toy, 1990 jeep cherokee, 4.0l has 416000 km on the body, around 50000 km on motor. Has a rubicon 4.5 inch lift wich was installed already when i bought it. I got a check list about a page long of things to repair on it, but nothing major.

paid $2000

$1000 purchase price (184.5k miles at purchase, stack of receipts from day 1)
$20 Valve Cover Gasket
$90 Tune up (plugs, wires, cap, rotor)
$500 Repair bill
----- Power Steering Pump
----- Fuel Level Sender
----- Fuel Pump
----- Fuel Filter
$15 Temperature Sender relocation (long story)
$75 Battery

So, after ~2 years: $1700 + gas

Might go up a bit if I purchase a 4wd donor vehicle. It's Florida, you'd think I could find a lot of 4wd non-rusty Jeeps, but most of the inexpensive ones are rusted to hell whereas mine has no rust at all (although some of the trim is loose). Besides some iffy paint, mine's in pretty much immaculate condition. No tears or stains on the inside, all the power accessories work. The only thing that -doesn't- work are the intermittent wipers, which just seem to randomly either work or not. Oh, and I have no reverse lights.

How hard was it to put that 97+ front end piece on your Jeep?
